Hi Tony,
I finally made it over here from LOST. wavey.gif

I have a chirp that I only get when idiling and cold. I have replaced the belt and all the static pulleys. I lubed the tensioner too. I now suspect that it is coming from the A/C compressor clutch. When I turn off the A/C it stops. It's either that or the alternator pulley (clutch?). I am just waiting for mine to get worse too because I have been trying for nearly a year to pin it down and I can't find what's making the noise.

So do you put the screwdriver against the body of the component or try to put it on the pulley itself?

(welcome)

Use the same screwdriver trick, since the alternator is high up on the engine it's easy to do. Then you can determine if it is the alternator or not.

It has like a little clutch inside the 'decoupler pulley'. Notorious squicker! :D

You may want to take a look at this and this.
