Left a family dinner last night and my uncle tried to pass me with his F-150 (extended cab, 4wd, 4.6), he didn't quite make it. I left him a couple lengths behind me. Kinda surprising, honestly. Those 4.6's are stout!

Still a small displacement V8 (about 281 cubic inches) in a truck (1/2 ton Ford about 5000lbs-ish). I find a Liberty with tuning and OD locked out is actually fun to drive once you get past 2000 rpm.

Good win. The power to weight on the 2 vehicles should be very similar, though the 4.6 is very underpowered for what it is in the f150sLeft a family dinner last night and my uncle tried to pass me with his F-150 (extended cab, 4wd, 4.6), he didn't quite make it. 5.4 is definitely a better truck engine.Good win. The power to weight on the 2 vehicles should be very similar, though the 4.6 is very underpowered for what it is in the f150s

And the new ecoboost...no contest to any 1/2 ton truck engine out there IMO. I want a new f150 with it
I'm curious to see how a turbo 6 holds up long term actually being used as a truck...
Talked to a guy who had an F150 with the Ecco boost
"Junk and not worth it"
said he was lucky to see better than 18 mpg highway
with nothing in the truck
considering that my 9000+# F250 with the 5.4L gets
14-15 highway I would say that *****
he also said that it did not pull as well as his old truck
with the 4.6L V8
And I will not get into the explorer Ecco boost
5000# SUV with a 2.0L 4 ******
275hp or not thing must be a snail

This should give you some indication....pretty impressive if you ask me....

I'll say turbo and low end torque (what you really need in a truck) don't go hand in hand.
