The kjs computer adjusts overtime anyways so don't waste the money on a drop in K&N and expect any performance enhancements.

In my eyes a K&N isnt really about the performance, i mean hell were talking about a 3.7 kj here. we cant do anything to up its power. But the pros to a K&N is that its reusable and that it flows better. Now about them letting in "grime" in about 80% of cases of grime after a K&N filter the problem is the K&N wasnt oiled properly and usually to much. Its a very thin line. to much oil and it will clog and just pull the oil into the intake with whatever particles is in it (bad) or if you use to little then there isnt enough oil for the dirt to stick to and it will work its way past the filter (bad) Ive used K&Ns for a decade and after learning how to properly oil them ive always had good results. I do belive that the K&N air intakes that replaces the whole airbox are ripoff to no end. You might gain 2WHP if your lucky, but that same gain can be had from a ebay intake pipe. If your going to use a K&N just get the drop in filter and dont forget to put your K&N sticker on the air box so some random ******* tech dosnt throw it away hen hes changing your oil!!!

same here and I'm not a big fan of the oils they sell. Not that I think the oils are no good I think they are very good I just don't want to leave it in that long to gain the value you need to make up for the price.

Purolator paper.

K&N flows better, but with that better flow you are letting my debris through. A stock 3.7 isn't going to take advantage of that increased flow anyway.

It is best to stick with a paper filter on lower powered stock motors.

 I replace mine every oil change, it gets down right nasty around my house. I live close to grain elevators and that dust gets everywhere.

Oh dont remind me... That sucked... When they were drying corn last fall it looked like pink snow here, we literally had drifts of dust a few inches deep. The airbox on both vehicles and the filters were clogged.

Just kept blowing things out with the air compressor. I just use a Fram filter, nothing fancy, don't like the mess from an oiled filter, or the dirt they let through as a free flowing filter.

Hey guys, I've been trying to find ways to improve my gas mileage. My KJ is worse than my 5.2L Grand Cherokee I had before. Anyhow, I've seen a few places say that replacing the stock air intake with a cold air K&N has gotten people up to the mid 20's mpg. Any thoughts?

A quick search came up with an intake a forum member made up and was (maybe still is) selling. He says he got 1.5mpg increase and it seems like a decent idea unless you drive through typhoons or water crossings a lot.

Mid 20's under what circumstances? It won't on the street. I mean with increased flow you'll see slight gains in mpg, but you're not going to beat the averages by much.
