My air filter looked clean until I lifted it up, and looked at the reverse side in stock air box. Wow it is dirty! (compressed air is not going to help on this one)
Maybe the dealer replacement is best to get?
What are you using in your stock air box when it comes time 4 a new one?

I'm fine with just a paper one. Fram is ok for air filters for me.

I've heard that the K&N air filter replacement unit that replaces the air box is complete crap for the 3.7. Just stick to the filter that goes into the air box.

I'm not a fan of open element filters in general....especially on something that goes off road a lot, or if it rains and you like puddle jumping...

Where'd you hear that? I have a K&N CAI on my 3.7 and it fits great and filters well. I periodically remove the filter and wipe the intake tract to see if there is dirt getting in. There, now you can add to your arsenal of here-say that you've heard that it works well.:D

Hey Rage, I'm not directing this at you, more like picking on everyone who can only repeat what they hear. When one lacks first hand experience with something then said opinion is merely a reflection of the opinions heard. I've been playing with cars for 20+years, building, racing ect... and I have a pretty sound base with what works and what doesn't. K&N's filters work, they do flow better at high rpms. Even the filter cartridge they sell for the airbox flows better than stock. As for filtration, I'm not an engineer and don't play with particulate counters, K&N has them. If you want a performance increase, get a insert brand here filter, whether it's K&N, AmsOil, AirRaid, whatever. But realise that you'll only see gains high in the rev range where flow is king.

Kids these days.... think they know everything.:D At least that's what my dad said about me.

Hey I have a K&N air filter on my ATV so I know they are good products. It's just I've heard that the kit for the 3.7 wasn't all that great. Don't shoot the messenger:eek:

The best air filter is pantyhose taped to the end of the intake tube.

In my f150 I had a k&n and it did let enough grime get by that I saw it after wiping the inner tube out with a paper towel(which is when I checked the inside of the intake tube far before the pcv hose so I know it wasn't from that). When I did wash the filter it had captured a lot of crap. However, on my bike, the k&n on that kept everything perfectly clean after 20,000 miles riding through pretty much every condition except snow.

The KJ is going to get parts store cheapos (fram or wix if they have em) because they are cheap enough and it is nowhere near being a performance vehicle.

The kjs computer adjusts overtime anyways so don't waste the money on a drop in K&N and expect any performance enhancements.
