Adding a jerry can

I just made this last weekend. Took about $50 in materials from ace hardware, a welder, a grinder and exactly one six pack of angry orchard.
This is my first post, btw.

Looks good, but....
Just be careful of the extra weight hanging off of the tailgate now.
with can, gas etc you've added at least another 35-37 lb to the gate

I think it'll be ok. I've had a 2.5 gallon can strapped to the spare tire for about 2 years with no sign of wear to the tailgate. I realize the jerry can is heavier, but it's sitting closer to the hinge, and not sticking out nearly as far. Time will tell, but so far, I don't forsee any problems.

If you run stock wheels/tire size.....might be ok. But my 32 hanging back there eventually started rattling
