42RLE transmission swap

Hey guys, just wondering if you can swap a 42RLE with VLP from a 2007 KJ into a 2005. The gearbox in my early 2005 Cherokee (they're a Cherokee in Australia) has died and I need to swap it with a second hand box just to get it back on the road.

I'm not familiar with what VLP is...but from what my transmission guy says, any 42RLE should work. Meaning not only from KJs...but other similar models as well.

As long as they have the same number of electrical connections, yes.

Apparently, the VLP version (variable line pressure), which was introduced in late 2005, is not compatible with earlier KJ's due to wiring and ecu issues.

I don't think we got the VLP variant here in the states....
