Yeah, I don't think too many were made. They were the 2.4L 4 cyl and came with 4.10 gears. The 3.7L was the most common engine at least in the US, and the 2.8L CRD was only for the US. In the UK the CRD used was a different motor, a 2.5L CRD I believe.

I wish Jeep would trash the 3.7L. There has gotta be a better
V6 that Jeep could offer.

I'd love to see a cast iron 4cyl offered also..

I have a 05 with the 4 ****** in it and it does good in the hills of WV just need to do a bit of gear changing but you do need a lot of room for passing.
Get about 20 to 21 mpg on average daily driving..

Hmm...I seem to like my 3.7 and haven't heard many bad things about it...not sure why it would need to be trashed.

My only true complaint is the change in transmissions for the V6 after 2003...but it still works fine.

Sorry about the thread jack but:

I agree with the above posts, the 3.7 is good for me, its peppy even with 4 people and full gear loaded in back. I don't do any towing so maybe that is the issue?

I think that the 3.7 is perfect for its size. You want something bigger get a grand cherokee. I would like to see a track car with the 3.7 in it. Can you imagine a 2400lb gutted track car with a peppy 3.7. Honda minivan v6s are thrown into their 4cyl cars and they haul i think the 3.7 would be fun

WoW, that's the mileage I get on my modified 3.7L Libby. I would have thought a 4 cyl would get better mileage. It's not an automatic is it?

Actually i would think the 4-cyl would get slightly less because it has to work a heck of a lot harder to move the same amount of weight that the 3.7l V6 does.

I couldn't imagine having the 2.4L in my KJ, we have a 02' PT Cruiser with that engine, while its not a pig by any means in that car and is quite peppy, i can't imagine the loss of acceleration due to added weight having that motor in my KJ.

Wonder if you could take the PT Cruiser 2.4l Turbo Kit and put that in a 2.4l KJ??? Seems to me there would be plenty of room.

I like the 3.7 in the KJ. Moves it just fine...no Hemi, but nice for daily driving.

BTW, kb0nly, I like the brush guard....:D

Same here, if you want a sports car then go get one, this is heavier SUV and it drives like it, but overall i think the acceleration and torque are pretty darn good for the engine size to weight ratio on the KJ. If i wanted big cubes i wouldn't have bought the KJ.

Thanks on the brush guard.. Even the wife likes it! Great, now she will want my Jeep all the time.
