Can I get the codes using the odometer with the 2006 KJ? If so how? I tried the on, off thing with the key but doesn't seem to be working. Am I doing something wrong?

Nope, obdII as far as I know the only way to scan is with a scan tool. Autozone will scan for free. A lot of people on here have a scangauge that will also pull codes for ya.

I know you can read codes on 02-05 using the ignition key. Don't know about an 06.

It is on...off.....on......off....on..... The code will flash on the bottom of the odometer.

On is not start and off is not all the way off.

Other than that you will need a scanner. I have a cheap $100 one the will read codes and tell you what they mean. Not a professional one but it works on any OBD11 vehicle.

Wow. I didn't know you can read them on the '02-'05, maybe search the PDF owners manual for "OBD", or "code". I'd search but don't have my manual on my phone right now.

I can pull the codes on my 2002 CRD using the on/off trick but, as I have noticed and is reported on Lost by some one else, the last two digits of the codes on the odometer display are sometimes transposed so you could end up chasing the wrong code or have a meaningless code!:disgust:

I bought the ELM 327 Bluetooth scan tool from some Internet supplier a while back. When coupled with Torque, an app for Android, it makes a pretty nice combination. I can get real-time fuel economy and even horsepower readings right on my phone.

About $25.00 for everything.
