put new pads ( best ones autozone had ) 6 -7 months ago on front . Also turned rotors . Both I believe but can't seem to remember . Getting old and always working on something around here . Replace RF caliper two years ago . Anyway this jeep goes into a front end shimmy type of deal when the brakes are applied . all 4 wheels turn free when jacked up . Plenty of pad left on all 4 wheels . The kid drives this one daily so I need to get it right . Any ideas ?

Thank you

Rotors are warped from heavy braking. They'll need turn or replaced. Use good rotors and teach him to start slowing down sooner than waiting till the last few yards. Also make sure the caliper pins aren't stiff or siezed up. Remove the slides in the caliper mount and clean and re-grease with caliper grease. Not regular grease.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Once a rotor has "warped" (actual term is excessive lateral runout) it will always be "warped",even if you turn the rotor the first time it get's hot it will return to the "warped" shape.Best to always replace rotors with high quality rotors and use high quality pads, autozones "best" is still the very bottom of the barrel as for quality goes.Semi metallic pads work much better for KJ's then the OE ceramics.

Worn shocks, mainly fronts, will also cause this to happen rather fast also since the weight transfer is to much to the front when braking from bad shocks.

And last but not least the pads/rotors need to be properly "bedded in" for best results.

blackmagicbrakes.com has the best procedure, under instructions.
