Well let me start of with about a week ago i replaced my water pump, it was leaking antifreeze, easy fix, did it with my buddy in his dads shop. It ran fine back to my place, but then i let it idle while i ran inside ended up letting it idle longer than i thought and when i got back out side i saw what no car owner wants to see. I was way over heated and the antifreeze was boiling so of course i turned the car off and let it cool while i called my buddy and ran through everything we did. Then we finally realized we forgot to plug the fan back in. So we of course plugged it back in and filled it back up with antifreeze, ended up using another full can of 50/50. We then turned the car back on and it started fine. We let it idle a while and everything seemed fine. Fast forward to a couple days ago. Mean while i drove it about 300 miles back to college. I should let you know that before this my engine light has been on due to a O2 leak or bad sensor code P0137. But 2 days ago i started to feel a jerk or hiccup around 60-70 mph. At first thought it was just the wind, my college is in erie and its been windy, but it was too consistent. So i ended up going to advanced auto and getting it checked and they came up with the new codes P0306 and P2317. Now i know the one is cylinder 6 misfiring and the other one is an ignition coil, coil "F". Now with me being in college i dont really have the money to blow so i was first going to check the spark plug. but dont know if ill really be able to get to it till i go back home. So what im asking is how bad is this and do you think a simple tune up would fix it, it does need one. thank you for your time.

2 things. If it is not blowing smoke out the tail pipe and the oil looks ok and is not milky I would say your overheat problem is no big deal at this point. It appears you have a misfire on Cylinder 6 so I would start with a plug and also I would check the coil on cylinder 6 to make sure that the wire looks ok. Since I am thinking that Cylinder 6 is the back one on the passenger side it may have gotten wet from the overflow bottle as it sits on that side of the jeep. May just need to check and see if all is ok then unplug the battery for a couple minutes and see if the problem goes away. If it is hesitating a plug or wire may be bad.

This^^. But if you check #6 coil/plug/wiring visually and it looks okay and the code doesn't clear I'd swap the #6 coil with another and see if it follows. The 2317 is specific for #6 and whats causing it is likely causing the misfire. I'd also bet on the coolant dumping on it as #6 is right under the reservoir.

So the day after I posted this my CEL started blinking another indicator of a miss fire and the hiccups cot more frequent. So i decided to bring it home today. I popped the hood oil looked great. no loss of coolant. and i did jiggle the wire to the top of cylinder 6. then i started my 3 hour drive home. And to my surprise i didn't feel any hiccups. Im still going to my buddies shop to run some tests and do a possible tune up so ill keep you guys posted.
