Today for the first time my 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport v6 3.7L cut out while driving up hill. I was driving up the driveway to park and it cuts off while accelerating up the hill. I have had a few problems with it sputtering in the past few days but I have not been able to trace the exact problem.

I replaced the spark plugs around 2-3 months ago, though one of the cylinders is misfiring based on the three codes the Jeep spit out.

Here are the check engine codes:

P0122 - Throttle Position Sensor #1 Voltage Low

P0455 - EVAP Leak Monitor Large Leak Detected

P0306 - Cylinder #6 Misfire

Anyone else had any of these issues or have any suggestions? Some people have said it could be the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and that it needs to be replaced, but they run between $40-$60.00 around here and I would hate to replace it if that is not the problem.

Thanks,
Jon

the TPS issue might be causing the misfire issue.

That's pretty pricey at 40-60.
Mopar part that I bought was only ~$26

If you can wait try Avondale Wholesale Parts

If im not mistaken the evap leak is going to be pretty time consuming to find the leak.
try the gas cap first?
check the lines going in to the evap canister for splits or cracks

Time to find a cracked hose on the Evap, the jeep wont run great with a large leak.
Look especially under the jeep around where all the hoses connects into around the top of the fuel tank and see if you can spot something broken or loose/off. Look under hood too.
If not, you would be best advised to find a shop that has a smoke machine.
Or call me over..I got a big cigar & lots of wind! :icon_lol:

Re #6 misfire move the coil pack to another plug and see if the code moves too.

I will try that. Thanks!

However, Avondale Wholesale Parts has it listed at $52.86

wooops sorry.
I got that confused with the CPS.
my bad.

I came across this awhile ago that might help you debug the TPS before pulling the trigger on the part.
Even thought it's for a wrangler I think it should be the same

When I switch the coil to see if the misfire is because of it how do I reset my check engine readouts to where it will show a change. From what I hear it requires so many cranks.

-couple of cranks
-disconnect battery
-use your obd reader to clear codes

The choice is yours.
Remember those other problems aren't fixed yet.

Just had the same thing happen to me.
Took some effort to find a friend with a tool to replace the TPS.
Drives like a charm now. Minus the P0442/P0455 but I don't really care.
