So this morning on my way home from work.... toolin along at 70mph. I hear this loud as pop from under the floor board. Poor Libby starts slowin down, no motive force to propel her. Pull over and sit a second, creeps along for about 50' or so. No more fwd propulsion. Pop it into R and hear what sounds like the flywheel just spinning. Same for D. Shut it off and wait for Tow-Mater to show.

I am just wondering if the solenoid pack took a dump. So that the trans aint building any pressure in the pump(s). Going to talk to the trans shop. At this time I am getting a quote of $1600 for a rebuild.

Well its gettin rebuilt. Don't like the cost, but what do you do. This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. In four years it has only ate the normal consumables.

Picked up the Libby. Happy to be driving it again.

Now parked, waiting for the shop to take it back in. ****** packed it in again! Doin about 65mph and WHUMP from under the floor boards. Tach jumped up, speedo steady. Hit the O/D button no change. Get it off the freeway and all fwd propulsion is gone. It will limp around at about 5mph.

Less than 75 miles after picking it up. Freaking nuts!

Makes you wonder about some Trans shops don't it. If they rebuilt your old Trans sounds like they fixed the problem but not the cause. Did they ever say what was wrong the first time or that it just needs to be rebuilt? Good luck with it it suck having to take it back and forth.

The Trans shop in question has a real good reputation for quality work. I know he wont be happy to see it back so soon...

Good to have a warranty aint it.

Talked to the the mech who did the work this morning.

The suspect part may be as simple as the trans cooler or line. As in the line getting plugged or colapsing when it gets hot. Bad part is they have to rebuild the trans from scratch again. The good part is the Libby is first in line this morning. The better part it is under warranty.

They have seen a run on Dodge trans cooler failures recently.

Talked to the shop again. The guts of the trans look just like they did before. The trans cooler flowed well when they flushed it.

Getting another complete rebuild and fixing the likely failing cooler in the radiator.

This shop has been around since the mid 80's. Very good reputation and stand behind what they do.

One thing i have learned over the years. The fly by night outfits just dont last long.
