So, my 06 yard sale kj has decided it is time for a bit of love.

Started him up this am, a little bit of rough idle.

ran errands all day, and back to work tonite for some paperwork.

started up rough idle again, and noticeable miss. About 3 miles up the road, the flashing CEL and light rapping noise.

made it to my driveway and babied him home.

305 - miss code.

hope it is just lifters/rockers.

no time to tear into it this week now, so next week it is.

Humm... light rapping noise? Like just running rough as **** noise? Or wow that's a rocker rapping?

I've heard a couple 3.7 rockers loose, neither were 06-07, and it was no mistaking cringe worthy sounding.

Just putting that out there in case what you heard is not a no-question it's a rocker. If not it could be way more simple like an injector or coil. Both times mine missed bad were misfire codes and both times it was an injector.

hey Tom!

diagnosis confirmed!

of course, i pulled the right side valve cover first. - no trauma there.

left side, #5 exhaust rocker lying down the head. Pulled lifter right out. No stiction.

BUT -

said lifter did not spring up when the follower was depressed.

a good soak in brake cleaner and it was springing back up.

let's make a deal on those parts if you still want to sell.

I'll get them in a box and see what they weigh etc,
try to get a picture to make sure they are what you want after work

Well thought I did , still have a rocker arm and adjuster missing. Only have 5 of each. I remember one guy wanted to buy them, wanted to see them, must have forgotten to return them to the stash. Will look this evening in the shop

This 06 has the upgraded rockers. So lifters / lash bits mission critical. I coukd reuse old ones but would love to have the works. 04 may need soon.

Ok guys -

So we are running again.

Ordered a set of lifters from Rockauto and got em in last nite.

While doing the job, i noticed the timing chain seems sloppy on the tuide opposite the tensioner.

So -if we are on the right head, the top of the chain is not tensioned but deflects about 3/8 inch. Similar on the left side, the bottom of the chain is sloppy.

Any experience here ? I'm thinking maybe i've got a bad guide. Runs fine, but now that i know the chain is sloppy, i'd swear i hear it clacking.

Thanks 1
