    What the hail?!

My wife's car was totalled by hail about a month ago. Actually worked out pretty nice. We went from owning a beater to a dimpled beater and having $3000....

    I'm strongly considering a Liberty... ???

I always wanted an xj and when I finally sat in one my dreams were crushed. My neck was at a 45 degree angle because I needed at least 2-3 more inches of headroom. Heck, I couldn't even get a sunroof in my liberty for the same reason. One of the many drawbacks of having a ginormous head...

OME or Bilstein shocks for LibertyTc's KJ?

I agree about your extra weight, I don't think it would make much difference.

OME or Bilstein shocks for LibertyTc's KJ?

I'm sorry for all of this confusion. I'm just digging into it now so please be patient. I did not fully understand that either Tom or Yellocoyote were having to retighten. They may have told me this but I do not recall such. What I recall is that they said that the shims compressed slightly...

    buffing the hood

I use a griots garage 3" buffer with matching pads, and got back and forth between that and my flex all over the jeep. 3" gets in lots of little spots.

    tires for stock DD KJ

wish I'd have seen this thread before it was too late. Personally I think most of the recommendations were incorrect for your wife and kids getting around town. Quiet, good in snow, good in rain, long lasting, etc are relative, and you've got a lot of guys here that have aggressive tires. In...

    Fukken Wax vs.....paint scrapes!

I'd think anything that can remove scratches has "cut" and therefore would be bad on your clearcoat longterm. If you're just talking about removing the other vehicles paint from yours, or "filling in" fine scratches then I could see a possibility but by my understanding the only way to remove...

Interior lights on all of the time on my 02 Liberty

Huh, I can't keep my cargo light on...I push it and its lit for about 40 seconds or something then it goes out...sometimes I need it on for 5-10 minutes and its a pain to have to keep pushing it over and over.

    Venom_84's KJ

Before you splurge on wheels & tire (or anything for that matter) do some soul searching and decide on the lift. Don't do like me and waste money on little tires, only to buy another set later in the year after your lift. Though I really like my roof rack, the lift and tires make the jeep...

    Let's talk Polishes

For my first time polishing anything ever, I did my mom's black CTS which was spiderwebbed pretty much 100%. I used Pinnacle's Advanced swirl remover, Pinnacles advanced finishing polish, my Flex and my Griot's 3" DA's. In as much time that I was willing to spend I removed at least 90% of it...

    Random "dings" and warning lights

x5. I've heard lots of stories like that resolved by a new battery. Get a good one. Optima (not sure what color top) is usually the most recommended around here.

    Little rocker panel carnage

If you make small masking tape circles and covered them up, would Line-x span the gap and then harden? I'm guessing it wouldn't stick to the mask right, but really all you need is for it to stick to itself...might ask them if there is a trick that they use for stuff like this.

    whats the difference?

I bought my own fluid, had it flushed, and they charged me $60 for the flushing only. Then I dropped the pan, changed the filter. So it runs me about $150-$200 to do it this way, after considering roughly 20 qts of fluid (don't forget the TC while you're at it.) To me, that is a lot better...

What can I use/do to get some additional lift?

I wasn't along on your ride home, but your hood bobbing up and down in the driveway was enough!

    Snot!

When I apply anti-seize, I run maybe a 1/8" diameter bead down the length of the thread, and then with a paper towel folded to approximately 1-2 inches wide, I twist the fastener against it and it wipes the anti-seize along the threads.

    Snot!

Just ask them to please run a M12x1.75 tap through the holes, and to use the new bolts with anti-seize. Thats the problem with using shops, they just cram stuff and skip the little things.

will have to try the "solid whacks" idea next time.

    Snot!

Ok I'll finally chime in. I've removed skids now off of 5-6 jeeps, and have seen basically the same thing when skids are left on for a while in the rust belt. The portion of the bolt that extends past the nutsert threads gets really rusty. Then when the bolts are removed they turn for about...
