Alright, I'm gonna' take this one........I read somewhere that there is a signal wheel bolted to the crank that has slots which the crank sensor picks up for spark and injection.....However since the crank rotates twice for every 4 strokes (720 degrees of rotation) and the cams rotate only once...

I set mine to the vent position to avoid the AC compressor....saves gas but in really cold weather my feet will get cold and I'll have to give in and put it on "floor" for a while.....Let your wallet be your guide,Joe W.

I'm not sure about this but that sensor may do more than control the dash indicators......I read somewhere that in 4lo the drive-by-wire(07) throttle is different and the timing may be retarded for compression braking....also,even the 95 sonoma I used to drive had a different anti-lock brake...
