    Timing chain life expectancy

The chain itself might last "forever", but the guides and tensioners are probably gone long before that. Mine had the nylon guide crumbled into small pieces and the complete set including chain, guides, pinions etc. wasn't too expensive so it was easy decision to change everything.

Multiple Misfires, engine running really rough.

Not really, when it's the Jeep 3.7 engine. I've been battling with cylinder head issues for 2 years now (I've written a separate thread about them) and if I'd known what's ahead when the P0306 error first appeared I'd changed the engine right then. Now it's too late. My engine has been open in...

    Little/no air flow

I think I have finally cracked this puzzle. I believe the root cause is A/C low pressure switch which is not working. It keeps the compressor churning all the time and eventually it freezes the evaporator and no air gets through it. At least the symptoms fit: it takes a while before any loss of...

    Little/no air flow

Quick question which may or may not be related to this issue. What the heck is the vacuum line going into air intake case, just below air filter? It comes from intake manifold, there's a T-joint that splits line to HVAC and air filter box. It must have some function but what? See attached picture.

2005 Liberty noisy driving down the road

If it comes from underneath (or "nowhere") and stays the same when turning left and right it's the U-joint. If it changes when turning the wheel and comes from front it's the front bearings.

    Little/no air flow

Blend door is working perfectly and there's nothing blocking the air flow (even took the grid out and washed it). Actually blend door can't even block the air flow since it's one motor that changes the air flow from heater core to a/c and back and either of the doors is always open. The blend...

    Little/no air flow

I've run into the same problem and I'm getting desperate. Fan is working ok but no air is coming out. This happens only when engine is warm, takes about half an hour before the air flow gradually drops down to nothing (no sudden changes). Changing the position from window to vents and to feet...

    No Cruise Control

Sounds very technical. I used piece of thin metal wire and just wrapped the cable to remaining plastic part with it. Worked nicely, but mine wasn't totally broken, just enough to make cable pop out every time the cruise is turned off.

    P0304 cyliner 4 misfire 2006 kj 3.7L

It's a wise decision. If you want reliable vehicle with 10+ years / 150k+ miles you should go for Chevy or Toyota. At the end of the day Jeep is a Chrysler and you can't do that with Chrysler. A friend of mine is a die-hard Chevy guy and when I tell him what I have done to my Jeep (-05) he...

    P0304 cyliner 4 misfire 2006 kj 3.7L

It's probably the valve guides, the 3.7L engine lasts only about 130-150k (if it's miles were talking about) before cylinder heads need to be done. Your 155k (miles) is actually pretty good. Just get them done and it'll run another 150 k nicely. Of course there's a ton of other issues you'll...

P0300 code along with 3 seperate cylinders Renegade Liberty 2003 3.7

The check list from easy and cheap to "oh sh*t" is spark plugs, fuel injector, coil packs, compression test. I'd suggest the compression testing now just to make sure you are not wasting your time and money trying to find easy and nice solution. Coils and and fuel injectors can be tested by...

    Valve mystery, any ideas?

No ideas? Well there's nothing to do but close the lid and hope it won't happen again. There was also 4th valve on the passenger side block which was replaced. Now I'll have to hold my breath and hope that the yellow "check engine" light won't light up any more. Because if it does I think this...

    The well known speedometer issues.

When I had problems with speedometer the cause was connector in the PCM. It looked ok but didn't lock properly and was missing contact, at least from some pins.

    Valve mystery, any ideas?

I had cylinder heads done earlier this year. Couple of new valves, rest cleaned and cylinder heads re-tooled, new timing set (chain, tensioners, guides but no sprockets) etc. After 6 months got leaking intake valve on cylinder 3. When the head was opened again they discovered, that on driver...

    Vacuum leak hunting

It's 2005 with 3.7L engine and I hope I have located the leak. It seems to be the line to the cruise control servo which hasn't been properly fixed and it has been rubbing against intake manifold. Didn't take it apart yet but if that's indeed the cause it will be pretty quick and easy fix.

    Vacuum leak hunting

I lost suddenly cruise control while driving and after that also the fresh air intake stops occasionally. Even with fan at full speed there's no air coming in. I'm pretty sure both are symptoms of vacuum leak and since it appeared so suddenly I even believe it might be just loose line somewhere...

    High mileage club

As a new member I'd like to get started by contributing my experiences. I've owned Liberty (branded as "Cherokee" here in Europe) '05 3.7L V6 for 8 years now, currently at 220 000 km (135 000 miles for you imperially challenged). This one appears to be designed to run for 100 000 miles and...
