Thanks for the response. I found the bushings you suggested, they are a good price. Does GATES make different level quality pumps? This one is $39, seems low for something so important but maybe I'm missing something.

OP Did you end up finding out the problem? I recently acquired a 2002 3.7 and have this same problem. I am fairly certain that O/D does engage, as when I am using cruise control and start down a long hill I notice the trans downshift to maintain my speed, presumably this is shifting from 4-3.
