    overheated and now p0320

She's finally going under the knife to assess the damage. Been sitting for a while, but it's been way too hot to get into it. Quick question about radiators, if I have the tow package, does that mean I have the oil cooler as well? When I look at radiators, it always shows that option.

Well.....let it fully cool, reconnected the battery and it started up with a few tries, BUT I walked around it and found white smoke from the tail pipe. The motor seems to run like normal, but white smoke is white smoke.

I loaned our kj to my mother for several weeks. I decided to borrow it back and do so a wheeling. I got about 15 miles on the hwy and looked down at the gauges, woops!. It was near the red danger zone! I pulled over and looked popped the hood. It was really friggin hot. Coolant bottle was...

    grind under acceleration

Yes, it changes the pitch of the grinding noise. It doesn't go away, just different pitch. This is while holding the throttle steady or accelerating. Off throttle, it's too light to really hear

    grind under acceleration

Just changed out both my rear wheel bearings hoping my griding noise would completely go away. It did get better, one was pretty bad, but it made this other noise much more obvious to hear. When in the rear diff, I did see some glitter in the fluid, but the gearset did not look worn. The...

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

So, I recently rebuilt my DS cv transfer case side, and I noticed that distinct tin can rattle sound again. I look under there and saw cv joint grease splattered in a perfect line around that end. I took it off and found this. The bolts on that side of the shaft were very loose. Not sure how...

    1st excursion after clevis

Aired down to 18psi and went slow, but in reality, it made it through everything without much drama. I hit my front skid one time, not bad though. My friend was surprised I could get up the same stuff he was doing.....and with my AC on(he had no AC, ps, and it was 93*).

    1st excursion after clevis

Went out to the Tuttle creek offroad park in eastern kansas, I live about 25min from it. Wanted to see what my basically stock kj would do. A friend of mine tagged along with his yj w/3" lift and general grabbers came along. I made it through everything he did. My kj has a clevis &top plate...

Need some info on wheel bearing replacement

Got everything to do this job, but wondering if I have another issue as well. I have a slight amount of movement with the axle in and out, very little movement. Could the carrier pin that holds the spider gears apart be worn? The axle only has that small amount of play on the right side, the...

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

My kit didnt come with a crimp clamp. It came with a pull strap type clamp. It sucked. I ended up pulling it off and putting a wide zip tie on it for now. Any ideas what I can do now? Would a regular hose clamp work, I remember reading here or on lost that somebody used one?

getting stuff off a parts car

Found a few kj's close to that are being parted out. Havent seen them yet, but I'm thinking about getting the rear cargo shade and possibly a front driveshaft(if it's in good condition). Anyone ever buy a used front driveshaft off a parts car as a spare or replacement? I was told under $50 for...

HELP -- Spinning Upper Ball Joint

In case anyone searches this and runs into the same mess I did, the correct thread is 14x1.5. Just get that size and rethread it. Worked perfectly for me, almost hand tightend it all the way on

HELP -- Spinning Upper Ball Joint

I would try something like that, but im worried about how hard it is to turn the nut. I think it's starting to cross thread. I used a crowbar between the springs and had someone put their weight on it while I turned the nut. Shouldn't take more than that, so I'm gonna play it safe and cut the...

HELP -- Spinning Upper Ball Joint

Actually had time to put everything back together and, for the most part, everything went together easily. The last snag, of course, was the driver side upper ball joint. The nut will not turn without the upper ball joint. I tried to back it out and it won't. I hope it's not stripped or cross...
