Here is the "thing" Also I noticed a light within one of the round instrument circles that keep coming and going that said "Type 43". Nothing in the owner's manual. Ideas?

I JUST got home from getting my first Jeep Liberty. It's a 2005 Sport with 6 speed. Question: To the left of the shifter is what looks like a tiny LED light sticking up. Like it is missing a cover. The dealer had no clue. Does anyone else. Other than that mystery, I'm liking it!
