I have an 02 kj with 125k miles. Never any major issues other than just rebuilt the transmission. Recently it started to die when I stop and put it in park. This has only happened twice. Now when I cold start it it has a high rpm, around 2000. It drops to around 1000 and then jumps back up...

Got a P1281 code this morning, which is engine cold to long(02 KJ). Im in Phoenix AZ so it was 35F this morning when I started it up. Started smoothly, ran great, seem to get up to operating temp as it always does. So anyone else run across this or know the problem/fix?

I was having a similar problem with my 02 KJ with a 100k on it. No check engine light either. Took it to the dealership and they found two codes P0700 and P0870. Ended up being a bad hydraulic pressure sensor and luckily covered by my warranty. So I would stop guessing what it might be and...

So is this something they do at the dealership or something I can do at home?

I replaced the filter about 2k ago. Not sure when the last flush was done, or if ever.

Where is this located at so I can check it?

I just replaced the gas struts on my rear glass, $50 at autozone and less than 10 minutes to swap out. Also my key problem is just a bit different. It doesnt get stuck in the ignition, it just doesnt turn. Gotta play with it a bit to get it to turn. It turns towards me with no problems...

So last week I went to get into my KJ (02 limited) and when I put the key in the ignition it would not turn. So I took it out and put it back in and it turned. Now the problem is getting worse. Took me almost ten minutes to get it to turn this morning. Im going to take it apart this evening...

Yea, that was going to be my first check and hoping that is what it is. I do remember on my Dodge Ram we had an issue with what was called an air gap. It was the gap in the pully on the compressor. I'd that a problem with the KJ?

I have an 02 3.7l kj limited. On my drive home today my a/c was blowing ice cold. Got onto the freeway and when I got up to speed 65 mph it started blowing warm air. Got off the freeway and slowed down, 45 mph and it started blowing cold again. Back on the freeway and speed and warm again...
