    Timing Chain Tensioner

Tensioner plate I just picked up a new set from the stealership. The restrictor plate appears fixed. Maybe they changed up the design to eliminate the dreaded lost plate.. I just hope this is my issue..

Rebuilding a 3.7 looking for a few answers..

To any interested parties, it turns out that there was in fact a spacer behind the left tensioner, looks like it is designed to restrict or meter the oil going to the tensioner. It was stuck to the back side. Mystery solved.

That's reassuring, it's funny though the FSM makes note of the plate twice: CAUTION: Plate behind left secondary chain tensioner could fall into oil pan. Therefore, cover pan opening. CAUTION: Ensure the plate between the left secondary chain tensioner and block is correctly installed...

Rebuilding a 3.7 looking for a few answers..

Also wondering about the plates or shims behind the tensioners, I see these come with all the timing kits, but when I pulled my engine apart, there wasn't a shim on either side. This happened when the Jeep overheated and dropped a valve seat. 1 in each head, #2 and #5 both munched a seat. The...

I certainly appreciate your reply. I have decided not to pull the primary chain after all since everything looks O.K. The heads are at my local machine shop now, I dropped them off with a set of new Mopar valve springs. They said I should be looking at apprx. $350.00 for clean-up, pressure test...

    Oil pump replacement question

Really? With all the timing cover removals on these 3.7's, no one has attempted to service the oil pump....

    Oil pump replacement question

I just picked up an '02 with a blown head gasket, and the dreaded valve seat drop (1 on each bank #2 & #5 ). While I am in the front I figured I would replace the tensioners, chain slides, and the oil pump. The pump appears to be readily serviceable, but the FSM states that the pan has to be...

    Painted fender flares and bumpers!

Looks good. Did you pull all the trim, or mask then spray while it was installed?
