Anyone know how the center console attaches?

Dealer had to replace my tranny shifter yesterday. To do that, they removed the entire center console assembly. Well, they didn't put it back in nice and snug, so now there is a gap between the console and the carpet. I tried pushing down on the console figuring it might snap into place but it...

    That Liberty Ad

No, you'd be surprised at how easy these aluminum wheels will scratch. The foamy brush at the local carwash will scratch them if you aren't careful. It's really kind of pitiful. Having a layer of cloth there (i.e., spare tire cover) can really mean the difference between gouging the wheel or...

    General Grabber AT2s are SWEET.

Well there are some pics of the tires on my cardomain page. I'll work on getting some pics of the tires ON the Jeep pretty soon. In the meantime.. www.cardomain.com/ride/2164878

Basically the handle on my trailer dolly came into contact with the wheel when I started up an incline due to a hitch mount that was too short (my fault). But if the spare tire cover had been there, the worst case scenario is the cover would have been ripped and the wheel would have turned out...

    General Grabber AT2s are SWEET.

I just got these Grabber AT2s put on yesterday. I LOVE them. I've owned BFG ATs, Cooper STTs, Goodyear Wranglers, etc. And I must say, these are some of the nicest tires I've ever had. I paid $86 each for them which was outstanding. They all 4 balanced perfectly the first time. They are smooth...

Nope, I've got the soft cover. If I had it the week I bought my Jeep I wouldn't have a gash in my new aluminum spare wheel. #-o The $43 soft spare cover is cheap insurance IMO. Oh, and in the owners manual it specifically says to remove the spare cover from time to time to check the air...

    That Liberty Ad

My KJ didn't come with a spare cover. The week I bought it I got a gash in my spare wheel that will never come out. Brand new aluminum wheel damaged permanently now. ](*,) I now have a spare tire cover.

    4WD Did Not Immediately Disengage

Yeah mine has made an awful clunk that shakes the Jeep when shifting out of full-time. It's done it more than once too. And mine is brand new. So who knows whats going on inside that t-case...

finally got my Liberty! question about auto door locks--

Automatic door locks suck. Everytime I drive down to the store they would lock me in. I'd forget and try to open the door only to realize I had to unlock them again first. Annoying! I disabled mine using the method outlined in the owner's manual. The only thing is apparently the rear gate...

    CRD Engine Heater Observations

It's normal for the tranny to not go into overdrive when the fluid is cold. Lots of this stuff is explained in the owner's manual that no one ever bothers to read. I think there are some issues, but most of us are happy with how our Jeeps operate considering it is a diesel.

    Slight Rattle

This rattle is very common. Even if you fix the "side-to-side" motion with spacers, you may still have movement "up-and-down" because the bolts are smaller than the eye-holes in the bushings on the new shocks. Over time this can cause annoying thumping noises, and bend the shock bolts as well...

    Kj spacer lift

AFter doing the spacer lift my ride quality got BETTER than stock. I love the way the spacer lift rides. The stock front struts will work, but if you can afford to change them go ahead and do it at the same time. The rear shocks can be changed out at any time.

One of those gas threads again.(sorry)

You are normal. My wife's new (2004) KJ got 14.8 mpg on her last fillup. In the summer she's closer to 16.5 mpg average. That is totally normal for the V6 models. I don't think you have anything wrong at all. If that isn't acceptible for you, trade it for a CRD model. Mine goes 100 miles...

    Coopers

These Cooper STTs are sweet tires. I got tons of compliments when I had them on my Ram. They work well on the street and they are awesome in the mud. The only problem is they are noisy. If you can live with the noise, these tires rule.

    Calling anyone with larger tires.....

Alright, I have looked at the tire charts on the LOST forums. They say that with 1.5" of lift I can fit 245/75s or 255/70s. But let's be realistic. There are "LOST" members that have 2.5" of lift and 245/75s, and they still get rubbing at all four corners. So if you stay on the street...

05-06 Sport and Limited Fog Lights

I'm wondering the same thing, except I need to change the entire assembly on mine. Both of my lenses cracked in the cold weather and are being replaced under warranty. When the parts come in I might ask if they'll just let me take the parts and do it myself. I'm tired of being without my Jeep...

    Selec-Trac Question

Mine seems to get easier to shift the more I use it. I still have a ton of trouble getting out of 4-low though.

    CRD Engine Heater Observations

At normal operating temperature my CRD will read about half-way up on the temp. guage. At 25 degrees outside, if I stop the CRD and leave it idling while I run in the store the temperature actually will drop and you can literally watch the temp. guage needle fall. So I'm beginning to wonder...

    Jeep Roof Rack

Only problem with the Yakima is the price. Once you buy everything you are way over $300. That is nuts for a basket. But I do like the Yakima myself.

    245/75/16 Revos

255/70 rubs on lifted KJs, so I'd say 245/75s would rub worse considering that they are 0.5" taller.
