billforde's right. That metal sleeve mount is the key, really. As you can see in his pics there are metal tabs bent to hold it in place, which is the trick. After that, the HU slides in until you hear a click.
Are you guys talking about the plastic mount that sort of 'fills in the gaps' around the aftermarket HU?
I'm just being curious...because I don't recall any words in the Crutchfield instuctions; just pictures with arrows.
EDIT: Doh! I should have followed Billforde's Crutchfield link...
That's a good analysis, JoN. It's exactly what I feel like I'm going through with the stocks. Next time I get a chance to visit the AAFES Car Center, I'll see if I can put in a special order for Firestones. Who knows? I may even get free shipping and discounts. O:)
I guess I'm slipping more...
Thanks for the confirmation, guys. I knew it had to be the tires because I know I'm not an agressive driver.
It's just that I got a lot of crap from the elder generation telling me I'm fairly young, too heavy on the gas, and "not driving an SUV properly"; sterotyping me and I find that...
This may be a dumb question, but are the stock Renegade tires really that terrible; enough to be hazardous and unsafe (my actual question)?
What concerns me is I've noticed my KJ's tires screech much more than my previous sedan over just little things. My KJ fishtails a little when turning a...
Not sure if this helps, but there's an article in Crutchfield that talks about a single ground for your HU and Amp:

That looks like a lot of fun! I wish they did something like that here...I'd be happy to participate.
Is the black KJ with the "Toys 4 Tots" on the back yours?
EDIT: Nevermind...I see the 'shrubbery' stuff on your roof rails and front guard. O:)
I was interested as well...

...but I guess it's difficult to get a definite answer.
Surco Product, Inc. say they have no part that fits our Renegades. Other places I've asked (Yakima & Thule) basically say if you purchase "this & that" you...
I noticed I am not able to disable the horn chirp on my 2005 KJ when activating the alarm by remote using the instructions in the manual.
I see that I'm not the only one who is having this experience according to the "HOW TO: Tweak your Keyless Entry settings" discussion, but that...
What were you working on when you removed the seat?
Well, I'm no expert (I'm sure others will have a better explanation or theory), but when I was installing my amp I noticed there were lots of tiny, bundled wires running around the vicinity of the seat under the carpeting (dunno what most of...
Well, with adequate power from an amp, I'd say the Polk db650's are pretty nice, but going from owning a sub to these...I can't say they'll be satisfactory with the bass response.
What is your sound system set up, currently?
I have my amp grounded under the base of the rear seat's front, left 'leg'...there's no paint there.
As for the rear speaker wires, running them from where the HU is may be the easiest way (in my opinion) and run them on the opposite side along the door trims.
