I like it. Matter of fact, it's also the best looking color on a Rubicon.

    oddballs KJ

Thanks. You know, I'd never buy a new Jeep in black if I planned to wheel it (off-road), but they are the best looking KJ's, especially when clean!

    oddballs KJ

The previous owner bent the 5th Limited alloy wheel and replaced it with that cheap crap. No. Nothing has been done to the suspension as far as lifting. The KJ build date is Sept 2001 so (as you know) that makes it a "pre-lowered" model, and from what I was told, the springs & shocks are...

    oddballs KJ

    Oil Filter Removal Tips?

After removing the skid plate and draining the pan, I use a pliers type wrench to break the filter loose, then cup the filter with a large Ziploc bag and unscrew. Not a drop spilled. Note, use anti-seize on the skid bolts before you put it back on. Makes it easy to remove in the future. Oh...

    HOW TO: Change Spark-Plugs

Thought I'd add, if you've ever had a problem removing spark plug boots- There is a spark plug boot wrench to make the job much easier. Anyway, next time you change plugs, use di-electric grease on the spark plug terminal. Not only will this protect the plug & boot from water, this will also...

    newbie outside chitown

Welcome. I too am somewhat new here. Although I've always been a Chevy guy, this KJ is my second Jeep. My first was a '84 CJ I bought new. So where outside Chicago are you?

    One more CB radio idea!

ITF36059; Does the antenna clear the rear glass when opening? If so, I really like that location.

How did you first find your KJ?

As for me, I wasn't so much looking for a KJ or even a Jeep as much as I was looking to get rid of a 2001 Silverado 4X4 ext cab stepside which had pretty much been a pita since day one. Yes, I bought that truck new. I had seen the KJ's around town but never really thought much about them until...

    3.7 Exhaust System Question

I've developed a exhaust leak and after searching have discovered there are 2 tabs on top of the Y-pipe behind the front converter, near the shaft running from the front differential to the t-case on the drivers side of the vehicle. Turns out the hole is where the tab is welded to the pipe. My...

    OnStar in a Jeep!

I had Onstar for several years in a Z71 Silverado and although I never needed it in a emergency situation, it did come in handy a few times. They can run diagnostic tests if you find something not working properly while you're driving, and let you know what the problem is. That feature alone...

    Hello from Illinois

The KJ has the following mods; BFG AT KO 255/70R/16 tires on the stock KJ Limited rims. DTT locker and a PowerTrax locker. Hidden Hitch rear receiver (with a shackle locked in place). Skidrow engine & transmission, and transfercase skid plates. The front skid is a factory Mopar piece...

    Hello from Illinois

Hi folks. Between the avatar and the user name, it's obvious where my vibes are coming from. But seriously, I am a former Army Tank Commander (12 years active duty service). Well I recently bought a 2002 KJ Limited (from a family member) and will be using the vehicle mainly as a work...
