Sorry to get off topic...
Mine in her Bauhaus glory (as I was an architecture student and fan of the band).
Weird to think there's 20 years between our bikes.

I have no clue on the kit. It might work just fine - probably cheaper than a new shaft for sure!
By the way, I had an '86 GSXR 750 for four years when I was in college. I put over 40,000 miles on it before I sold it (never should have sold it). I loved that bike. Since then I've gone...
If the front prop shaft CV is going, then just replace the whole thing with a custom U-joint drive shaft... Lots of us have. I don't believe there are any manufacturers making them as a replacement part, but any driveshaft shop can whip one up. It's a common with the WJ crowd I hear...
J,
It sure seemed like a lot to me! :)
True - Tons of modified FJ's everytime we are out on the trails now. Wish there were more KJ's - but it'll never be so. And it's really a bummer that more KK's aren't being lifted. I hope they get the brake line issue resolved soon.
It's still...
Just before last Christmas, a run was posted on another Jeep forum I belong to. The run was sponsored by a Jeep dealership so the attendance was big: over 40 Jeeps. I was the only KJ. Aside from one modified Grand Cherokee, the rest were CJ's and Wranglers. I got stuck once and had to winch...
You don't need to baby it. The front end (suspension) is far stouter than you'd imagine. Just remember that KJ's are heavy, though. You'll top/bottom out pretty easily, but it'll keep on going. Oh... never let the front end hop if you are crawling. The front diff might go PRANG. Also check...
Rem
I have an REM CD in my stereo. It's Murmur... from like 1983. Does that count? Oddly I have it on cassette, too. Good thing the factory '02 stereo has a tape player. Damn. I'm getting old, but I got tunes. :)

Yeah, he's stock. I have a Powertrax in the rear. My guess is that the 'systems' would allow him to crawl better up and down typically. I usually need to maintain momentum going up, and I need to really watch the brakes going down. But that's half the fun!

KK and KJ at Butcher Jones and Bull Dog Canyon - 8/23/08
Weird to say, but an 'old school' KJ (no ABS, no ESP, no descent control) and a new KK loaded with the above went out for a morning run.
Thanks AZKKPilotC182T for letting me try out the new rig. The descent control is amazing yet...
I've got a random crew heading out to Butcher Jones (aka the the Rolls, aka the Coves at Saguaro lake) this Saturday morning for a 1/2 day fun run. Stock vehicles will be fine. Newbies welcome.
Meeting time is 10 am at the FIRST parking lot on the right BEFORE the pay station /...
Oops
Light rain + clay + hill + brakes instead of gas = SLIDEWAYS. Almost rolled. Notice the tire marks on the hill. Lesson learned - Just tapping the gas probably would have kept the rear from coming around. I got real lucky...

We had a great turn-out. About a dozen vehicles and about 20 people. It only took an hour to clean Cove 1, then we towed-out two stolen/abandoned vehicles that were blocking the trails. We met up with the Forest Service folks who were really glad we made a difference.
Here's a link to my...
Hey everyone,
On AZVJC there's a post for a clean-up out at Butcher Jones (aka the Rolls / Saguaro Coves) on 7/26.

Well, Lois and I just returned from getting hitched in Costa Rica. It's an amazing place. We highly recommend going there.

I realize it's money, but have your ball joints replaced with greasable Moogs. Consider it maintenance. You'll sleep better.
