I bought this vehicle with a rod knocking . I installed a crank kit & the engine is fine . No back history on this jeep .
I've now found the heater blows barely warm & the ac blows barely cold . I've read many threads about blend door problems & clogged heater cores .
The heater fan blows fine...
I'm wondering if mine fell into the oil pan . I have a mechanics magnet on a stick & I ran it back into the pan & didn't get anything but I didn't try very long .
I haven't actually checked anything yet except feeling both heater hoses & they're both hot . I'd like a definite answer on the heater core question before I start .
I'm having a problem with my 02 . Both heater hoses are hot but air coming out vents is barely warm . Doesn't anyone have an old core that they can saw into & determine once & for all if the coolant can bypass inside the core or not ? I breezed through this thread this time so I'll apologize in...
2002 Liberty with drum brakes on rear . Just installed new brake shoes on rear & parking brake lever will only pull up about 3 clicks . Brake shoes didn't appear to be spread at the top as if parking brake cable was too tight when shoes were installed . Wheels turn freely with parking brake...
Thanks for responding folks . I have decided not to buy those . Think I'll just clean up the steel wheels & paint them until I find a good used set of alloys .
5 CHROME 02 07 Jeep Liberty 16 Wheel Skins Hub Cap Tire Covers Spare Steel Rim | eBay
Anyone ever purchased these ? They fit on factory steel wheels . I would like to know if wheel weights on the rim of the wheel would prevent using these . I asked the ebay seller & didn't get an answer .

As I said before my 02 has the 45 transmission & the cooler built in the radiator . Today I installed the radiator out of an 05 with the external cooler . The 05 radiator has brackets the external cooler fits in & two bolts . Everything fit perfectly . The metal lines from the transmission ended...
Did your 03 have the in radiator cooler that wasn't being used or did you buy a different radiator ? The one thing I'm wondering about is , the 02 has the 45 trans & radiator cooler & the 05 has the 42 trans with just the external cooler . Did your 03 have a 45 trans with just the external...
My 05 doesn't have a cooler in the radiator , just the external cooler . That was the problem with installing an 05 radiator in the 02 . I went to my country property this afternoon & got the external cooler off the parts 05 . It does just have two rubber hoses on it that connect to the metal...
You can get a crank kit from rockauto that includes crankshaft & bearings for about $250.00 + shipping . I have an 02 that spun a rod bearing & scoured the crankshaft . I had a good 05 block laying around & swapped the crank out of it into the 02 with new bearings . Had to swap reluctor rings ...
Sounds like a compression test is needed . 4 & 6 are adjacent cylinders , possible blown head gasket . White smoke / steam is also an indication of a blown head gasket . You can get a block test kit at NAPA for around $40.00 bucks that will tell you if the coolant is getting exhaust gases in it .
Just went out & looked at the 02 & 05 . It's raining so I didn't examine closely but it appears as though the metal lines from the transmission transition to rubber hoses at the front of the engines with just hose clamps on them . Perhaps it will be a fairly easy swap . If anyone has made this...
