Change cig lighter socket to ignition switched?
Only one that I know of... My '04 Ram has 3, one of which is switched with the ignition. I've determined I can tap a +ve off the head unit feed to pick up a relay with it's load contacts (30 and 87) cut into the receptacle +ve feed.- Ocelot

Dad isn't likely to want to do any thing different, so the switched (or additional) cig plug is likely the way to go. If I install a second cig lighter plug, I'd put it in a slightly more discrete location, it would hide "one" cable at least.- Ocelot

Dad leaves his satellite radio receiver plugged into the cigaret lighter socket which is on all the time, on several occasions it drains the battery down to dead. Has anybody ever switched the power feed for their cigaret lighter to something that is ignition switched? ( or possibly added a...- Ocelot

Have you considered the possibility that you might have a dropped valve into a cylinder? (although this doesn't explain the oil loss)- Ocelot

Red lightning bolt light turned on my dash when I turned on the AC,what does it mean?
Are you sure it is a charge system light? The red lightning bolt directly above the fuel gauge is the ETC light (electronic throttle control light). It lights up if the throttle (gas pedal) position is not in sync with the throttle valve position.- Ocelot

Here in Manitoba retrofitted HIDs in conventional reflector buckets aren't legal but it's not widely enforced. It's going to be though.- Ocelot

In my case, they charged 35 bucks, I had my rams drls turned off so I could use the high beam wiring cct to enable the relay for my aux high bemas.- Ocelot

USA-SPEC PA11-CHR unit. ipod/iphone adapter for iDevice with 30 pin connector, will work with devices that have a lightning connector as long as you have a 30 pin to lighting connector adapter. I've never looked on the jeep, but I have my drls disabled on my 04 ram. I had to have a dealer connect with a DRB III scan tool, before the drl menu would even show up, they had to change the country code to USA. they could then access the menu to turn off the drls. I'd recommend the danial...- Ocelot

Garage heater
I used 2 - 6000 watt unit heaters in my 22 x 22 attached garage here in Manitoba. Really good recovery time after an overhead door was opened. With electric heat, it doesn't cost extra to run if you oversize. Those 5000 watt "construction" heaters are just as good, but if they have a plug on...- Ocelot

Trailer Package Danger?
There are apparently two wiring standards for a 7 wire. I found this out recently when hooking up to a trailer with surge brakes and a lock-out solenoid for reversing. The pin that the trailer uses to activate the trailer brake lock out matched up with my pin for the constant 12v supply...- Ocelot
