Change cig lighter socket to ignition switched?

Only one that I know of... My '04 Ram has 3, one of which is switched with the ignition. I've determined I can tap a +ve off the head unit feed to pick up a relay with it's load contacts (30 and 87) cut into the receptacle +ve feed.

Change cig lighter socket to ignition switched?

Dad isn't likely to want to do any thing different, so the switched (or additional) cig plug is likely the way to go. If I install a second cig lighter plug, I'd put it in a slightly more discrete location, it would hide "one" cable at least.

Change cig lighter socket to ignition switched?

Dad leaves his satellite radio receiver plugged into the cigaret lighter socket which is on all the time, on several occasions it drains the battery down to dead. Has anybody ever switched the power feed for their cigaret lighter to something that is ignition switched? ( or possibly added a...

Bought a non-working '02 Liberty, where to start?

Have you considered the possibility that you might have a dropped valve into a cylinder? (although this doesn't explain the oil loss)

Red lightning bolt light turned on my dash when I turned on the AC,what does it mean?

Are you sure it is a charge system light? The red lightning bolt directly above the fuel gauge is the ETC light (electronic throttle control light). It lights up if the throttle (gas pedal) position is not in sync with the throttle valve position.

    how to disable DRL??

I've never looked on the jeep, but I have my drls disabled on my 04 ram. I had to have a dealer connect with a DRB III scan tool, before the drl menu would even show up, they had to change the country code to USA. they could then access the menu to turn off the drls. I'd recommend the danial...

    Garage heater

I used 2 - 6000 watt unit heaters in my 22 x 22 attached garage here in Manitoba. Really good recovery time after an overhead door was opened. With electric heat, it doesn't cost extra to run if you oversize. Those 5000 watt "construction" heaters are just as good, but if they have a plug on...

    adding aux.lights.

Not quite. I'd like to add some aux driving lights energized by a relay that is only picked up when the high beams are on ( and a switch to disable then )

    adding aux.lights.

Does a 2006 liberty use ground switching on it's hi and low beams, or does it use the conventional +12v switching?

    Trailer Package Danger?

There are apparently two wiring standards for a 7 wire. I found this out recently when hooking up to a trailer with surge brakes and a lock-out solenoid for reversing. The pin that the trailer uses to activate the trailer brake lock out matched up with my pin for the constant 12v supply...
