You Know You're Driving A KJ When.......

It's funny to see all the muddy vehicles driving around here in spring, or even in warm spells in winter. Nobody seems to bother cleaning their headlights and they have this dull glow coming from the front of their trucks. How the heck they can see is beyond me! You know you're...

You Know You're Driving A KJ When.......

Sounds like you need group therapy! He he he! Ooops, I guess that's what this is. :)

    Installed Hella's and light bar

There are a few restriction details that the RCMP CAN enforce, such as colour of light, lamp height, foglight height in relation to headlights, etc. Mostly they're interested to see if your "off-road" lamps have opaque covers. See section 4 for details...

    snow tires in Quebec

There were 7 on Taylor hill alone in one day. For some reason they only sanded one side of the road for a few hours, and people were hitting the ditch. I don't think there were any injuries, but some banged up vehicles. It was crazy because it rained quite hard, then froze good and hard, then...

    snow tires in Quebec

The ol' Peace Country has been getting plenty of winter lately, huh? Our roads are disgusterous....just had another couple of inches of snow last night. It's fun as heck to go charging around in it though...full time 4wd, studded winter tires....yeeehaw! Driving this rig in winter is...

How NOT To: Fix a windshield ding.

I got a rock chip at eye level on the drivers side, just a bit after I had the last new windshield put in. I was going to get it filled, but another rock hit the windshield first.....about 1/8" away from the first hit. After I had those two filled in, another rock hit the window, about 1/16"...

Anyone ever used a Titan Air Jack?

I've never used one myself, but they're in fairly common use. ARB makes one too I think. Good for mud, sand or snow apparently.

    Gas warning light?

I always fill at ~1/2 tank too. The closest I've ever come to running out of gas in my KJ is getting down to ~1/4 tank. Why chance it? In this region, that's just too dang risky. Winter especially. That's how I look at it. Gotta fill up sooner or later, why not keep it on the full side?

What did you sell or trade to get your KJ?

I didn't trade in a vehicle when I bought the KJ in 03. I had been riding a mountain bike full time for 6 years as my only transportation. Yes, even in winter. It had studded snow tires. :D Still have that bike, a Schwinn that seems to be indestructible. Before that I drove a 92...

    snow tires in Quebec

There's a law in Quebec now about snow tires. If you have Quebec licence plates, you have to have snow tires for winter. Fine of up to $300 for not having them. This law is based on studies which show that all-season radials are not good for winter. The prediction is that later this...

Question for non American KJ owners

The only way to turn off the daytime running lights on a Canadian KJ is to engage the e-brake. Or poke them with a stick. ;)

    Opinions please

Both of those are good reasons to have matching spares: the appearance and the function.

    6 spoke wheels

They're good rims. I painted mine black a while ago. http://www.lostkjs.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=299376&highlight=painted+rims#299376

    Need Bigger Tires

Option # 3.5 OME coils and shocks. IMO this is the best setup for a KJ DD. It'll take tough treatment but still ride smooth and stable when you get back on the pavement. Keep in mind that if you go real huge with the tires, like bigger than 245/75 16s for example, you'll have other...

    DUB Edition?

Yep, mud dubs just seem wrong to me. Lotta that happening, kind of a tough bling thing. Not very functional except streeting. Good old pothole, though....each to their own.

Cleaning mud off rubber trim ?

OK, that works. Simoniz tire cleaner spray (just been waiting for a reason to use that: it's been sitting on the shelf for months), let it sit a minute, wipe off with wet sponge, rinse sponge and wipe again, dry with terry-like fabric (old sweat pants torn into chunks). I'm going to do all the...

Cleaning mud off rubber trim ?

I wonder if tire cleaner would work? I'm going to go try that right now and let you know.

    New too

Thanks! So far, ARB bull bar, lighting upgrade, OME HD, All-J's Super Skid, rear seat delete/flat deck install, Grabber AT2s (studded Nokian Hakks for winter), original rims painted, Spidertrax spacers. Only thing different under the hood is an Odyssey. Amsoil front to back. I bought the KJ...

    New too

Hey! I've been lurking for quite a while, figured it's time to join up! Also a member at LOST. Current ride is an '03 KJ sport with some mods. Glad to be here, this is a great site!!

Tranny shifts hard from OD to 3rd??

Hi. Is it still happening? You can either wait it out, or take it to a dealer and have them hook the KJ to the DRBlll unit. Have them perform a Quick Learn to reset the clutch volume indexes.
