Does anybody know the size of bolt used for the thermostat housing? I want to get a new bolt for the top one. I don't want to break it when putting it back on. The bottom one already broke like nothing. The head twisted right off when I first removed the thermostat.
I'm thinking it's around...
In the fuse panel there's a 15 amp fuse for the BCM. Actually, I would check all of the fuses with a DMM. I had that 15amp fuse blow once when one of the wires for the stereo shorted out. Caused the same problems you are having.
That's the part # of the one I bought from the dealer. $35 from the dealer. $40 for a lesser quality one from canadian tire. Never thought I'd see the day when something is cheaper at the dealer.
I just took a look in the service manual I have for the 2005 and it says 115 inch pounds for...
Ok cool. I should be good then. It has the jiggle valve.
The crush gasket on this thermostat is similar to what is used on the water pump. I learned the hard way with the water pump that it's a one time use gasket. Looks like the same applies to the thermostat.
Picked up the new thermostat and is has a gasket on it already. Looking at the gasket it looks like it's a crush style gasket. I'm guessing this is all I need. When I took apart the thermostat housing before there was only this big o-ring around the thermostat. There was also no sign of rtv...
Ok I phoned the dealer and they said there isn't a thermostat gasket listed and that it probably comes with the thermostat itself. Does that sound correct? I thought the gasket was separate.
In September I changed out the radiator on my 2005 Liberty w/ 3.7. When I did the radiator, I removed the thermostat to help in draining the block. I changed out the rad and put on the old thermostat with the old o-ring. No leaks at all.
I haven't driven my jeep much since then. 3 days...
My '05 has done this as well. Pretty sure it has to do with the immobilizer. I find if I turn the key to the on position, wait until the fuel pump turns off, then start it, I have no issues.
The yellow jug prestone doesn't meet the MS 9769 standard which the jeep requires. The silver jug prestone (says dex-cool approved) does meet MS 9769. I would think as long as the coolant meets MS 9769 then you're good to go.
Drain the cooling system and then fill it back up through the bleed hole that is on the upper hose. Once it's full there fill the coolant bottle until full. Run engine with heat on full blast until the cooling fan kicks in. Top up coolant as needed.
I've had to drain/fill my cooling system...
I had the exact same issue a while back when I swapped out my head unit. I was an idiot and didn't disconnect the battery and one of the wires shorted out.
Anyway, it was a 15 amp fuse I had to replace. It was in the fuse panel that's inside on the drivers side. I believe the fuse was under...
I'm currently using the original battery that came with my 2005. Battery has been frozen a couple of times and it still works.
Up until last december my grandfather was using it since I gave it to him in 2008 in his ford f350 with a 390. I'm using it in my jeep until I take my AGM from my...
If you look at the hood latch area you'll see a vertical support piece that runs down to the bumper. There are 2 screws like what you have that hold that vertical support piece to the bumper. Might be from there.
Is the water pump gasket a one time use thing? I made a stupid move and removed my water pump because I thought the water inlet where the thermostat goes was part of the water pump. I put the water pump back on with the original gasket and torqued the bolts. At first it was OK but now the...
I'm pretty sure there's a reason the headlights see a lesser voltage; it makes the bulbs last longer. My smart car burns out the headlamps once a year because the voltage around 13.5. The smart dealer sells a resistor kit to fix the issue fir $100. My 2005 liberty still has the original bulbs.
Ok got the rubber feet on. Took no time at all. I think there is a piece broken on my battery box where a bracket goes to hold the upper hose. That's why I didn't have to move the battery box to get the rad out.
When I had the rad out again I thought it would be a good time to change the...
Now that it's daylight out I went and checked things closer. When pushing/pulling the bottom of the rad it rattles and moves a bit. Considering I don't have coolant in it, I'm going to pull it out and do it right.
I'm in the process of swapping out my broken radiator. I got the rad put in with no problems. Once I finished snapping in the grill I noticed the bottom feet things that go on the bottom of the radiator fell off. How important are these?
Also, why do some of the how to posts on here say...
