Drove with the scan tool. Both banks sensor 1’s are moving -11 then -3 then + 5 back to 0 then - 7 etc. both banks sensor 2’s are dead at 99.2 while driving. The oveall short term and long terms are living -32.8 to -21 and -3. Pics attached I can’t seam to get video added.- Jhkj04

Need advice - unexplained missfires
So I pulled the motor, did head gaskets and timing swapped map, iac, mass air flow new gasket, 02’s, lots of stuff and get p0172 175. Only change was the air filter to an open cone filter. Sadly I put a battery in that air box spot. Did just check trim at idle to see -32.8 across the board. Put 200 miles on her this weekend and she ran well just with code 172 and 175 continuing to pop up. Just swapped the throttle body gasket and officially she has bank 1/2 sensor 1/2 new 02’s...- Jhkj04

So I’m using the oreilly code scan tool. It shows live data I just havent driven with it. I did the pass front 02 and now the map sensor and almost made it 60 miles when the codes came back. 172 and 175. Should I just pull the intake and check the gaskets? They are new but I guess could be damaged.- Jhkj04

Getting better. Not fogging the hole garage now and actually running well. I cleared codes and almost got home then it popped p0839 p0068. All fel-pro. First start up mixed review. Motor sounds good started right up. Still has the old check engine codes I need to clear and it’s got allot of smoke out the exhaust. Only let it warm up to temp until tomorrow. Thought I just fixed that.- Jhkj04

Yea I cleaned out the holes and piles the new bolts. Also ran in the old bolts as a practice run before putting the head on. It might just be it was the 4th in a square box and after the other 3 number 4 didn’t need as much power.- Jhkj04

Getting close. Should have had the heads back on and timing down last week and didn’t love it. Ran the head bolt sequence of 20ft then 90 and 90 but poured oil around the cams and it leaked from the head gasket. Yea I tried the nickels and dimes approach and finally said done. It’s not a daily and I found a buddy with a puller. It’s way easier out and that 3.7 wasn’t bad to pull. Oh man that guy went full custom with a 302 ford not even a 4.7. It seams easier with a 4.7 and a 45rfe trans that I don’t have. Swapping trans, Pcm and ecm are prob my no go lines. True, thoughts on a set of used take off heads they claim are good to go. Found a set for 100$ plus shipping. tried a bore scope lastnight but cant get the angle to see trying another one with a mirror tonight. what's a better move to swap heads and gaskets for 300-400 or swap a motor for 600-800? knowing it prob needs a torque converter soon. my goal was to just get it trailable for this year then swap...- Jhkj04

This seams to be the answer. I’m loosing faith anything else could keep the valve open like this. Also it makes sense why if the rocker fell off how it hung open rather than closed. Next question is new/used heads and gaskets or a full motor swap. Do we have any upgrades that swap in Easily?- Jhkj04
