    KJ: 1, Buick LeSabre: 0

The cops speculated that the airbag didn't deploy because the collision wasn't quite head-on. In fact, it was only because the airbag didn't deploy that the firemen recommended I let them tow it. I guess any vibration could cause it to trigger. Unfortunately, I learned today that the...

    KJ: 1, Buick LeSabre: 0

My 9-year old son and I were in a pretty hard crash last night in my 03 KJ. We were going 40 mph on a state highway here in the Chicago burbs when the other car shot across our path, left to right. The driver told the cops he didn't see us. My son and I were both very shaken up, but okay...

    2 EVICS available: a 2002 WJ and a 2003 WJ

The AF is still available, but it DOES NOT have a sunroof switch. Both the front and back sides of both units are pictured above. Look at the top photo. The AF is the unit on the right. See how the unit on the left has a gray module and black-taped-wrapped pigtail near the bottom? That's...

Does this sound like a transfer case problem?

I am starting a new thread with this follow-up question. Background: I had been experiencing some banging while in four-wheel drive, and after some recommendations from users, discovered that the CV-joint on my front drive shaft was shot. Yesterday I replaced the CV-joint with a new one...

    Considering a transfer case project?

My local dealer has the seal for $38, and the slinger for $6.70. I believe those are pretty close to market prices.

    Considering a transfer case project?

I was looking for info about the slinger before I tackle my rear output seal, and I ran across this detailed write-up (with great pictures) about breaking down an NV242 transfer case. I don't think it should be taken as gospel, but it provides good general info for the less-mechanically...

Leak from plug on transfer case, 03 KJ Sport

Forgive my confusion, but isn't the output seal further up on the horn, around where the DS attaches? I've seen pictures of leaking seals, and the boots are always coated in ATF. I don't have ATF anywhere near the boot.

Leak from plug on transfer case, 03 KJ Sport

Today I cleaned up my transfer case and then changed the fluid (new ATF+4, of course). I took it for a little test drive, and then snapped this pic. You can clearly see a drip of fresh red fluid leaking out from under the output horn. It's definitely not coming from the output seal. Is there...

    Today's Cry for Help?

It appears that all (or most) KJs squeak on the front end thanks to the sway bar bushings. Does yours sound like mine? http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47400

    2 EVICS available: a 2002 WJ and a 2003 WJ

***UPDATE AS OF MAY 13, 2011: The 2002 EVIC and pigtail are SOLD*** I installed an EVIC in my 03 KJ about three years ago, and for reasons I don't recall, I bought multiple (actually 3) units on eBay. The two I didn't use have been sitting in my garage, collecting dust. The 2002...

    Today's Cry for Help?

    I'm guessing it's a Torx head. I don't remember the exact number, but I'm thinking it's either a 10 or a 20. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

any one have a grill gaurd ?

Count your blessings. Even the best bull bar can't stop a determined doe. My mom had one run out from the side and jump onto the windshield of her 2010 KK as she was driving 40 mph. Luckily, only the deer was totaled. The repair bill is currently around eight grand; it should be done some...

Another new development--vibration at 42 mph

Interesting. I drove with the O/D turned off and could not duplicate the rumble. I am now going to try driving with the O/D turned on and try to determine if the rumble is occurring at a gear change. EDIT: I think this may answer everyone's questions...

Another new development--vibration at 42 mph

I have tried to triangulate the rumble, but it happens so quickly that I can't nail it down. It's quick nature is also keeping me from doing the neutral test. I'll keep trying to get answers for both questions. As a rule, I always leave my overdrive turned on. I will turn it off and see...

Another new development--vibration at 42 mph

Give or take 3 mph. I get the feel/sound of going over a rumble strip. It only seems to occur when accelerating through the 40-45 mph range, never while coasting. Suggestions of what I should look at? FYI, although my front drive shaft is currently sitting on my work bench, I'm still getting...
