What did you do to your jeep today?

Not working on the Jeep per se, but started organizing the garage/workshop that has been a pile of boxes since we moved. Getting better access to all my tools and supplies will make Jeep work easier.

    '05 Sport: What to do...

If your kid would need a car at some point, would $2500-3000 get him something reliable and practical, or is it better to have him driving the Jeep you know the history on, know how to fix, and that he will take care of because he loves it… I am biased though because my KK is on its second...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I think I will pick up a low mileage (106k) replacement at a nearby junkyard on Monday. I’d rather buy used OEM than aftermarket.

What did you do to your jeep today?

I think I have the answer to why my Jeep seems to have a driveline vibration when coasting. The boot on the drivers side CV axle is toast and it has let out all the grease. This might be the reason, or perhaps something else is going on too. But likely the CV is toast anyway and needs to be...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Today I drove the Jeep 450 miles to Vermont. It has developed quite a prominent driveline vibration when coasting, particularly between 30 and 40 mph. It feels like hitting a rumble strip. When the Jeep is under power the vibration goes away. It feels like it may be something to do with the...

New guy looking at getting a Liberty

If buying a 2008-12, avoid any Jeep that has a sky slider fabric top, no matter how nice the rest of the vehicle is. These tops are very unreliable and may be unfixable when they break, as there are no spare parts available outside of a bone yard.

    lock unlock settings

That’s how I have mine configured too. I hate the idea of bothering my neighbors late at night if I lock my Jeep.

Yup, that must be a coin tray where the 4WD switch is supposed to be. Nice little base model KK though.

What did you do to your jeep today?

No, they all have the electronic switch. But it has always worked for me and I never had any problem with it. There is a shift motor/actuator on the outside of the t-case that can be swapped out if there is ever an issue.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Wow what an incredible find! 2008 was the only year for a six speed manual in the KK. That’s a rare beast.

What did you do to your jeep today?

I am a forest ecologist and my research area is in how historic forest fires have shaped the woods we have now. Many oak and pine forests in the east have had little fire in the last 100 years, even though before that fires routinely burned the woods less than every 10 years. I am a professor...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Mule duties, yes. :D The Ford Focus Electric is essentially the same generation as your Fiat 500e and has the same range stats in summer and winter! That’s awesome. I’m hoping it will last me a few good years. I have calculated that if I can put 20,000 miles on it, the Ford will have paid...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I drove the Jeep Liberty into Philly today for weekend errands. Back in October we traded our Commander for a little electric 2016 Ford Focus. The Ford has taken over all my commuting duties, and literally costs 1/6 to operate relative to Jeepy’s 8 mpg in the city. The kids have the Ford today...
