I have a 2003 jeep liberty renegade and i want to make it big, manly, and mean looking. I'm a 16 yr old boy and i have just about no automotive experience, but i want to lift my liberty probably 2.5 to 3 inches. the big problem for me though is that i don't know anything about cars besides what i have picked up from relatives and video games. I also am paying for this all by myself and I'm gonna try to get most bang for my buck. I plan to also use it as my daily driver to and fro school and work.

other things i plan on doing is put a bad ass sound system in it, a cold air intake, a exhaust system (possibly just a muffler), big off road tires, and i want to put on a big brush guard. lastly i know a few people that would help me with the whole installation part.

First get away from the games for a while and read on here and LOSTJEEPs what all it takes to lift one
You're looking at 700-800 for parts
Forget the cold air intake waste of money
Think of what you want, "big off road tires " depending on how and where you drive you may not want or need
Get a plan together, look at pictures of different ones, and like I said read through the various posts
Its real easy at your age to get talked into a lot of "junk" that you'll never need or use
Believe it or not I was 16 a "few:happy175:" years back

The only reason why I wanted the cold air intake was for power and sound. Also I have been considering headers for it. I kinda want to just piss off my neighbors just like my brother did before he left for college. He had a 2010 camaro with a slp loudmouth exhaust and it was loud enough to wake the dead, but also it was more high pitched than what I would like my jeep to sound like. Also I kinda am looking for new rims eventually because mine are really jacked up and my spare rim is in really bad shape. But everywhere I look online all I see is big flashy looking rims all I want is some flat black rims that aren't too expensive or flashy. Lastly would skid plates help with corrosion resistance because where I live in the winter they put boat loads of salt on the roads and I already have more than enough rust.

Cold Air Intake does not give you any more power at all on a KJ , save your money
headers? The only company that made them stopped PLUS unless you redo the computer no extra power that way either
Paint your current wheels black for under 20-25 bucks and be done for a while
Skid plates will not stop corrosion, washing it every few days in the winter will though

Believe it or not 5 years ago I met a kid with a TJ just like you
He was all about "bigger is better"
Problem was he had a 4 bangger
In the end we did a 3"+/- lift
33's and regeared to 4.56
After that he was still having trouble following us
For his 17'th b-day he got front and rear lock-rites
"Lunch box" lockers

Now I have not seen him in 2 years but at last check
He did an 8.8 rear swap and a terra low t-case
along with high clearance skids and runs trails rated
4+ on a 1-5 rating

no more
dirty and rusty take it on down the road :whip::party52:

how would i clean off salt during below freezing winters up here without a lift

Good question?
I know to clean mud we use a sprinkeler under the Jeep
Now when I get a trailer for the TJ I am going to redeck it with
grating so I can wash it right on the trailer

If I can't wash mine at home it get hosed off at the car wash,
I washed mine at 15/20 degrees, laying on the floor of the car wash
