I'm new to the world of replacement AC condenser units... and need some help selecting a decent brand to replace my leaking OEM one. It's getting pretty toasty here lately. :(

I got out on http://www.rockauto.com today to see what they offer... but now I'm down to which brands are acceptable, and not junk.

Here's what I found:

SHERMAN Part # CON83179 - $67.79
VARIOUS MFR Part # CH3030154 - $76.79
VISTA-PRO Part # 3179 - $99.99
SPECTRA PREMIUM - $95.79
TYC GENERA Part # 3058 - $121.89

Does anyone have experience replacing their condenser? Suggestions/ideas appreciated.

I take it you looked on Rock Auto? That sounds like the brands they carry.

Sherman is usually not warehouse stocked, delayed a week or less for shipment from the manufacturer.

If i had to choose i would just go with the Various Mfg selection on there, you get whatever brand they have in stock, kinda like going to an auto parts place as well. They have a good exchange and warranty through Rock so no worries.

The cheapest the local places seem to have, Advanced and other ma and pa stores around me, is the Visteon brand for about $180... Ouch... Maybe cheaper where you live but i don't know.

I would just order one from Rock auto and keep the paperwork for warranty! Its a real duck shoot on this stuff now days.

Someone out on LOST suggested either OEM or Napa... but those are both a bit more expensive than the stuff on RockAuto - by over $50. And, so far, I've never had a complaint about anything I've ordered from them. I wanted to get a feel for better brands... because, outside of swapping out a condenser, I know nothing about them.

Yep always had good luck with Rock, both their parts and shipping are always good. Some can knock the brand names all they want, but i have to deal with a blue collar wage when it comes to parts availability... LOL

I am now in the market for a condenser - which one did you end up going with? And how has it worked out for you?
