Jeep 5000lbs tow, Rav-4 3500lbs tow ....
What you do with it is only up to you ...
I tried all small sized SUV before i bought my KJ....
they all had something very cool and something not cool....
I'm rough on my vehicules no matter what its made for, i tend to push it to its limits;
therefore, i do 'lumberjacking', hacing to get there i need certain offroad capability and a robust frame from the vehicule. As soon as i laid my eyes on the belly of the KJ i thought; Thats the one made for me !! All other SUV are made humm girlier ? I liked most of them for comfort, mpg's, etc... but the KJ seemed to stand a bit apart as for the toughness of its body... Given its good looking, not bad comfortable, it was my choice... MPG is something i do only 5 km to get to my job... When i bought it i was like, im sick of americans crappy part falling cars...(always had only american cars) so reliability wasnt something i was expecting but to my surprise the KJ seems to be doing quite good in ratings. So i am very happy with my choice so far but i still respect other SUV's as they all had something cool and different. Thing is, KJ was truly the shoe to my foot! BTW: Yes Toyotas are more reliable, they last longer, but hell !! When they break down your wallet seems to have vanished !! GM's start falling apart at around 130 000km and cost 10 000$ less.... Toyotas start falling apart at 200 000km but are 10 000$ more at cost ... How often you change car ?

I don't really have anything against Toyota's or RAV4's.
But it is not a real Four Wheel Drive!
More of a Gore-Tex and Lands End wearing Yuppy vehicle!(blarg)
Plenty of my old friends have oler SR5 Toyota pick-ups and Four Runners and they are good trucks.

Whew! Someone turn on the fan! There is a lot of BS in here! Why is everyone talking about a rav4 when we could compare the kj to a corolla?! We all know a corolla will flex on the ramps just as good as a kj. :D:rolleyes:

So I just finally landed a real world job after graduating college last may. So i finally have money in my pocket. All the vehicles i've owned before have been hand me downs (87 Sentra, 88 Accord, 90 Dynasty, 97 Saturn SL2)...so finally i say to myself OMG 05 TACOMA 4 DOOR 4x4 GLORY IS MINE.

THEN i realized, wow...thats still 20k screw that nonsense. But there was still an irking in the back of my head that i needed me some 4x4 action. My best friend owned Cherokees out the *****(beach mostly) and my other best friend drives an 08 wrangler(thats a TJ/something right?). and i love the outdoors so it was in my mind.

I get to the Honda dealership and i tell them what i want and i say, decent space decent gas cheap newish. They put me in a Matrix then a civic coupe. I for some reason agree on the civic coupe and am ready to make a 12k (before extras) jump...when i cant sleep that night. I hop on the dealers website and find an 04 Liberty, a truck i never thought iwould like or buy,. with 66k miles for 6700 bucks....6700! I come in the next day and tell them i want to see it. It's clean drives great and im much more comfortable sitting in it. sign me up!

5k miles later and a first time wheelin trip (some sandy area quad trails, oh yeah the libby fit and handled awesome, even got a bit muddy :) I have no qualms at all... gas mileage is a bit low but i've gotten 23 if i drive it right. i havent had a problem with space at all, i moved from NY to VA with all my belongings in the back minus a bag of clothing and a computer that i wouldve been fine with if i needed i have a roof capsule thingy i couldve used. Handles in the snow awesome. i have noticed that i have 2 hi 4 part and 4 lo, no 4 full. but thats no big deal, i dont need 4 hi. 4 part is fine and 4 lo is for towing.

I haven't even gotten used to the windows yet but im starting to remember now. my passengers and i have no space issues. i always have a spot for my cell wallet glasses drink no prob. i think the only thing i dont like is theres no light for the back seat, but i dont sit there so i dont care. I'm going to look see if i can buy the compass display map light console to replace my plain map lights. Glove cmpt can be bigger i agree. engine is fine, i can out drive my friend in his coupe so im happy.(ok ok its a VW Rabbit but whatever) :-D

and you guys up there doing the long winded posts arguing about shit, i want you to know that no one reads them, nor do they care...you just bug us that you make us scroll farther...well damn i wrote a long post too didnt i...sorry!

Very surprising since they made all of those vehicles out of real bad metal. They've recalled all the toyota SUV/pickup's before like '06 due to extreme frame rot.

TOYOTA RUST:

Yes, back in the day this was a real bad issue, my father had an 87 long bed 1 ton Toyota, Only the bed rusted out, and did it rust!! Before I bought my 90 his bed sides were almost gone. BUT, he got something from Toyota that got him a brand new bed all inclusive install and paint. Looked beautiful when he sold it in 94. BTW, his toyota had work done to it. A clutch, tires, brakes, rotors....Yep thats it and in excess of 300,000 miles. Sold it for 2300.00 though, I thought he could have gotten more for it. It looked great!

My 4Runner (1990) as well) had no rust issues but it did have that damn head problem.. Ended up blowin the head gasket for the third time in 2007 and I finally got rid of it... For the whole sum of ONE Springfield Armory 1911! I was just so tired of it, she gave her all and then some!

Well, the Libby is almost done, I still have the tailgate and roof to detail. Since its going to rain I might as well lift her up and detail the under side as well. It's nice having a garage! I was surprised she fit with my 7 ft doors, squeezed in by about 2 inches!

Ok, while there are a few good posts in this thread, the personal attacks, flaming, and bashing of others' choices in vehicles needs to stop. Otherwise, this will be locked and infractions handed out to those who are repeatedly offending.

Sorry for jacking this thread, but........wasn't the 2 door Belvedere called the Satellite? My pops had a 66 Belvedere.

Not sure, the Belvedere was the FR-Layout, while the Satellite was FR Layout but was B-body when they came out. The Sat was also the successor to Belvedere.... The Belvedere was only a full size car from 1951-1964, so no, my brother had one of these... It was a HUGE car, with a 318.

From 1951 to 1953, they only had a full size 2-door hardtop, 1st generation.

From 1954-1961, 1962-1963, they had a 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan, 2-door station wagon, and a 2-door convertible. Except that from 62 is when it went to the B-Body.

From 1964-1970, B-Body: 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan, 2-door station wagon, and 2-door convertible.

Many other cars shared the B-Body of those same years... Most known is the Roadrunner.

My uncle was a ******** Mopar man, and this is what I grew up around, MOPAR...

I'm talking about the Toyota's from the mid to late 1980's.
Recycled American vehicles!:D
Most of them have returned to nature by biodegrading in the form of rust!
But yeah, they weren't no Jeep or Bronco or K5 Blazer!:D
Their owners like them though.
The nicest one has a small block Chevy that pushed 500+ BHP
Another friend had an ancient Hardtop SJ 410 that had a 1.8 liter or 1.9 liter VW Diesel.
That was a cool little 4X4. But it too succumb to Iron Oxide has returned to nature!:D

I glad you are happy with your KJ!
My wife and I are also very happy with ours. Other than my Classic Mini's which are in their own league, this is one of the best vehicles my wive and I have owned!

I don't know how long you have been checking out this forum?
But after Seven (7) posts, you are still new here and some folks really like to get into it here!:D
Better to vent here than to go and climb up to the roof (or ruff depending on where everybodies from!:D )of a U.S. Postal building and start shooting at people! :D

Don't take this the wrong way.
It's all in fun!

The Satellite was a higher trim level/model of the same basic car. It varied by year, of course, but for 67, the Plymouth B-bodies were Belvedere I, Belvedere II, and Satellite. Mine is a Belvedere I 2-door sedan (post).

Hey, at least nobody on this forum has a lowered Liberty with 36 inch wheels :)rolleyes:) and chrome everywhere!
Although, having said that... I'm sure somebody will hopefully post a picture of our least favorite Black Libby with an abundance of chrome crap everywhere!:D
Just to remind us to "What not to do to a Jeep Liberty":D
