Hello! I have a 2005 Liberty Sport and I'd like to add a mirror that has a compass, temperature and Homelink transmitter. I know of other vehicles that owners have added these to, but has anyone done this to a Liberty? I searched here but found no results.

Thanks,

George

to be honest probably not a lot of people are doing this, mainly because if you are going to do this you might as well just get an EVIC, which is the overhead display, which goes in place of your front domelights. These have built in compass, temp, gas mileage, homelink, some even have the tire pressure monitoring system capabilities.

THANKS! Picked up an '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee EVIC off of eBay! Now I have to order the bracket since the '05s and later do not have it, from what I've read...

Bah, hate being inept at these things, lol

it's really not that bad to do, just intimidating to cut into the headliner. Is there anyone in the area that could help? I am sure just about anyone can do this mod provided you can work a screwdriver.

No problem, I always wanted to install a EVIC. I wonder if my brother will notice if I steal it out his WJ??

Except that now you won't have temp because an 04+ WJ EVIC is not compatible with 04+ KJs

I was just thinking "Where the heck is Titan".. Whenever I hear mirror, I remember you. I wish I could get auto-dimming side mirrors.

I lurk occasionally. Work's busy right now, too. Get some auto-dimming mirrors that are meant for an import and slap them on. The wiring is there in the door, and the overhead wiring to control them is there if you have an autodimming rearview mirror from the factory. Plug and play.

I am going to have to check that. Do they retain the heated functionality?

You need to get the heated and autodim ones, not the heated and electric folding. It's pick your preference, dimming or folding. Or maybe it was heat instead of folding... one of them.

edit: My memory is shot and full of submarine wires instead. It was autodim or power fold you have to trade off. Pin #8 triggers them both, depending on which one you have. Pin #7 is exclusive to powerfold mirrors and goes unused otherwise. Likewise Pin #4 is the positive rail for autodimming mirrors and is unused in other mirrors. Now if you're really lucky I will dig around and get you the part number you need for the autodimming heated mirrors WITHOUT ARABIC on them. Your dealer CAN, despite what he says, order and obtain them, if you want to pay full price. But that is why you just call Wyckoff and have them do it. Or trade favors with some of our cross the pond neighbors and have them snag a pair and mail them.

1 P71 20TN/DG (LHD) LEFT MIRROR UP DRIVER

1 P72 20TN/GY (RHD) RIGHT MIRROR UP DRIVER

3 P74 20TN/OR (RHD) RIGHT MIRROR LEFT DRIVER

5 C16 20DB/GY FUSED REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER RELAY OUTPUT (Heat is triggered when your defroster is on)

Does the front overhead light in the '05 "pop" out? I need to remove the light to see what is up there. I may have leaped before I looked- the EVIC I bought has no pigtails... Just three places where connectors have wires running fromthem cut.

Wires running from them cut? That is a pig tail... A pig tail is just a term for remnants of a factory harness that is still plugged into the ports on whatever device you bought. They're not plug and play into the factory wiring...you have to solder on your own wire, run that, and solder it into your factory harness at some point.
