What's the difference between the RR Rockfather II and the Frankenlift for the KJ? In your opinion which is better and why?

Frankenlift:
"Front Includes:
Complete front assembled front strut assembly using OME Heavy Duty coils; Rancho struts; the Daystar KJ spacer kit, and All J Product's custom urethane parts and hardware.
Rear Includes:
OME Heavy Duty coils; Rancho RSX 17004 shocks; and Daystar rear bump stops."

Rockfather II:
"Rockfather II contains:
  • New front custom springs.Front strut spacers for full 2.5" in lift.
  • Old Man Emu front strut shocks.
  • Custom full height rear springs.
  • Rear HYDRO shocks AND Old Man EMU front strut shocks. As with the original system, this gets you the superior front end setup along with new front strut shocks. On the rear, you will receive our custom built full height lift coil springs. An incredible matched system. Without question, the finest suspension on the planet for the Liberty."

Frankenlift is fully assembled and comes with Ranchos or OME custom length rear shocks. The quality of the components, a front bumpstop on the struts that helps save the upper control arm and the assembled front struts is the major difference.

If you read RR's web page they dislike Rancho shocks on the KJ because they are made for heavier trucks so they ride too stiff for the lighter KJ. I also heard that using too stiff of shocks will cause accelerated wear and tear on your vehicle. What is your experience?

I just installed a Frankenlift on a KJ yesterday and it was all OME parts. OME coils all around, OME shocks/struts all around including the ALL J exclusive N132L rear shock which is ONLY available from All J and well worth it too. The Frankenlift also uses a All J exclusive lower spring spacer that includes a molded in bumpstop that keeps the upper portion of the knuckle from contacting the spring when the suspension is at full droop. Nice.

RRO reputation for quality, customer service, and business practices have come under question by many of us here and others at www.lostkjs.com . I purchased from them and it did workout for me. I would recommend that you get a frankinlift or a OME lift from Rustys off road. I do not reccomend a purchase from RRO. Do so at your own risk.

With a frankinlift you will have to eventually get Al's A arms to replace you upper ball joint and control arm. They are longer to alleveate ball joint contact and have a greasable oversized ball joint that will take offroad abuse better that the stock ones. The frank has a bumpstop to keep the ball joint away from the coil but the extreme angle the joint is at will wear it out faster. Plus you get better alignment with Al's. You can see them at www.jeepinbyal.com

You may have to do this with a rustys as well if you do a clevis lift.

RRO makes a upper contol arm too but one of the guys on here paid for one, never recieved it, and has yet to get his money back!!!

What ever lift you get you will want OME rear shocks as they are designed for the KJ. You can get a standard legnth from Rusty's N132's or the long travel from AllJ's the N132L. The fit the bushing sizes, With the ranchos you need to add washer or you will crush the mounts when you tighten them in.

You will need extended bumpstops for the long travels as they are two inches longer and they will blow up if you bottom out without extended stops.

Make sure you take the frank out and flex it real good to break it in. Your cv joints will thank you.

Do some seaches and look at the lift forum it will give you some info on the different lifts.
