Local garage here named Jason's Auto. They specialize in engine and transmission rebuilds. I can ask where they got the reman engine from. Jasper engine was $1600 more than getting a rebuilt one.

Well finally confirmed that misfire on cylinder 6 is result of head gasket leak. Water ended up pouring into cylinder and damaging other components. We looked for new vehicle and weighed idea of taking on new car payment but since jeep is paid for opted for remanufactured engine. So also had...
That was a mistype on my part about stating plug wires. I should have clarified better as I was typing that up when half awake and this topic was on my mind. Looking at the write up he did on the jeep he did mention he tested the coil pack by moving it to another location and revealed nothing in...
Been a while since I have updated this thread but have some updates. Mid summer 2014 I started keeping up with oil consumption and noticed about every 398 miles it would go through a quart of oil. I took it to dealer and they wanted $1000 to tear down engine and determine cause of consumption...
Update since the PCV valve was replaced at 119,553 miles: Better gas mileage BUT oil consumption is using almost a full quart every 360 miles or so. I think that is still bad. Jeep now has 120,540 miles on it.
I am using QuakerState 5W30 oil and no blue smoke coming out of tailpipe, no oil...
Jeep Liberty consuming oil
Thanks for the update. I have been keeping a log on how much oil it's been using and how often so with the PCV valve replaced will see if it is less frequent in topping off.
Wow. I hope the PCV valve works..only had the vehicle for almost 2 years and only paid about 5grand for it. Sounds like that could set me back another grand or two.
Update on this post:
I started keeping a journal when she started driving to college each day and since the distance is a lot farther and traffic a little more congested, I noticed that about every 300 miles or so, it is using anywhere from half a quart to 3/4 of a quart of oil. I see no smoke...
Thanks! I had the plugs replaced a few months ago and the mechanic didnt mention any issue with oil on the plugs. Will see about scheduling a compression test though. Thanks!
I am wondering what I need to check on my Jeep to find out why it's using oil where once a month I have to top it off with half a quart to little over. I neglected checking it for almost 2 months and it was a whole quart low! The jeep is driven about 100 miles a week max. I have checked for...
It lost alot of brake fluid. I filled it back up, replaced the front flexible lines with new ones and bled each wheel 3 to 4 times. It seems okay when driving around town but decided to get on interstate and while driving at higher speeds it seemed a little difficult to stop. It does if I mash...
what size flare wrench would i need to use to remove the brake lines from it? Looking at it one brake line comes into the back of the fitting that sites on the axle and splits off to each wheel.
Is this a pretty easy job? I did the front ones and only took me about an hour to do so I am hoping...
I am looking at replacing the rear brake line on the 02 Liberty 2WD due to rust on the fittings. I replaced the front ones already becasue of a busted line that rusted through. My question is how hard is it to replace this brake line. Its strange because the rear brake line appears to be mounted...
