I can get 27 mpg if i drive it like a grandma and use the clutch down hills . But 25mpg is average on my2004 3.7

Sounds like u got a lot of new internal parts. Perhaps the idle problem is, head gasket or a seal is causing a vacuum leak . If a new one was installed and not done right, or its cheap or made slightly wrong it could leak , also heads can warp causing leaking. If the gasket isn't already...

Thats a good idea i think ill pull of the skid plate and do that , ive got a thermal camera that should allow me to pin point the hot area in comparison to the normal temperature around it

Sure you could say that .No im going to take it off and go for a drive and inspect it . Ive had it on jack stands turned the wheels but problem needs driving to make it happen by the time i jack it whatever is hot or something is no longer and it won't do it there

So turns out all my local parts stores told me this part is discontinued and unavailable. they told me to check for it at auto wreckers i have a used one in good shape lol so obviously new is going to be hard to come by from here on out but its pushing 20 so
