Hey Y’all

I keep seeing that lifts under 3.5-4 inches don’t need extended cv axles but I’m also aware that the crd has different cv axles than the gas models. Have anyone successfully run stock cv axles on a crd with a 3 inch lift?

I came here looking for the same answer. Anybody got an opinion? I believe the issue is clearance when you use the stock CRD axles (which are confirmed different than the gasser option), but I see a lot of people saying it's fine (even with a lift), and I'm having a hard time finding a better (and available) option for my 2-3" lift.

I don't think you will have problems with a 2" ish lift, mine has 1 1/2" lift and the CVs are just off straight.

I am at about 3" lift and have not had any issues with the CV axles. It's is a gas V6 model though, and I dropped the engine cradle about 3/4".

I thought the CRDs axles were slightly different lengths for engine clearance. (Diff mounted further offset?)

Yeah, one is shorter so it gets a nasty angle if you go to high.

I found these extended travel CV Axles on Rock Auto. They have a shorter diff side CV to allow longer axles and better angles. They just arrived so will be installing soon. My CRD has a 2.5" lift and I have driven as is on several class 5 trails in Moab, UT. I have had many Trail Leaders start the day calling me a Mall Crawler and not qualified to run the trails with them. The end of the day, they change their tune. I was thinking about how to create something like these when I found them. I bought the Trakmotive units. I'll you know how they work after EJS in March.
