Radiator fluid not draining?

2007 Jeep Liberty was going to change thermostat & while draining radiator via petcock maybe 1 cup drained. I then removed lower radiator hose & 2 cups of fluid came out. Radiator & overflow tank are still full, any ideas ? Thanks

The overflow will stay full. The radiator should lose all the fluid when the bottom hose is removed.

(i am assuming that you removed the lower hose at the radiator (lowest point) and not at the engine it self. If it was at the engine, you would have to bend the hose down to allow the radiator to drain.

Did you see any rust or particles in the coolant that did come out? The radiator might be clogged

I replaced the radiator and a lot of fluid came out when I did, it was clogged. Thanks !
