I wasn’t able to find a shop to install before being out of state, so can’t comment yet. Has anyone else used Yukon rear gears or have a better option? From what I had read, not much difference between Yukon, USA Standard etc..
I'm using usa standard gears in the rear, which are said to be a lower tier than Yukon. They are fine. Noise isn't bad, honestly pretty much the same as the factory gear noise. My pattern could be better, but I haven't had time to pull it apart and re-do it. The rears were 250 or 350 cad (dont remember). Rears super common. I believe Yukon sells the front gears based on when I was looking. Also a wrecking yard in Alberta has the complete 4.10 rear axle if anyone is looking. I ordered the front from them and just used the factory set up and swapped it in. I did install a torsen lsd in the front and a clutch lsd in the rear.

I’ve been told by a few shops that the place of manufacture is the only real difference. Motive from Italy and revolution etc from Korea are the best bets but still 50/50 on noise production.

Salutations Everyone! Anyone know where to get those front 4.10 gears? I feel like I arrived to the party just a bit too late. I checked Amazon, EBay, Summit, RockAuto, JCE Racing and no luck yet. Some say they have back orders available, but I spoke with Yukon and they told me they source it out straight from Spicer, that they were 90% sure that they discontinued it. I searched under “YG D30HD-410L” and under “Dana Spicer 84006-5”; no cigar :( I feel I’m running out of options. I live in Puerto Rico so 4cyl KJs are nonexistent. Anyone here selling? Or could point me the right way? Much Appreciated

The rear is easy to find. You may have to check ebay. Amazon did have the front back in January. I would contact various vendors and see if they have them in stock. The Yukon site says back order available. Maybe you order them?

So if the parts come to you for around $1000 (CAD), I think it's worth while. When amazon had the front ring and pinion I think it was in the 1000-1200 range. You can also set the notification on amazon to alert you when they are in stock.

Thank You so Much Cheddar I will get in contact, specially with that last link to see if they have it and compare prices. I was looking at the Spain listing, and they offer the complete assembly of the front differential of a 2004 4cyl for around 700 euros ($800 US dollars) so I may follow that route if they can ship over here. Thanks for shining light!

Yeah if the shipping isn't terrible then it's a good buy. Complete assembly with no hassles.

For stock (best option), try ebay. There are a few auto wreckers out there that list 4.10 gears out of 2.4KJ. BUT, make sure you get the VIN and check it for yourself - don't trust them without the VIN. Even then, physically check the r/p when you get it. Learned this the hard way.

There may also be a tag one the bolts holding the cover on. It will say 4.10 in some form on it.... if it has it. Sometimes people don't put them back on when they do a diff service.

Absolutely! Be careful with eBay cuz people will tell you all kinds of things to sell you something. Ask for the VIN number to verify the build sheet. I saw two listings the other day saying they had 4.10 but after checking the VIN number the build sheet said 3.73. Also, their listings where of 3.7 engine models which only came with 3.73 stock. Stay safe out there!

I used this link to verify build sheets:

Also, I bought a complete front differential from a 2.4L from B-parts.com, they are from Spain but they do shipping over here. I think they still have one on listing.

They are legit, I bought it with shipping for around $800, now all I gotta do is wait. I will update when I receive.

Hello from central Ohio, first ever post. 2005 Liberty Renegade

This is a great forum and I appreciate all of the knowledge that has been shared here. I know regearing has been discussed at length on here, but given that our Jeeps are getting up in years, I was hoping to get some input.

I have acquired all of the parts to have the front and rear differentials regeared/rebuilt. This includes the parts listed below. I thought finding the front Dana gears would be the hardest part, but now I can’t find a shop to do the work. Did I mess up getting all of the parts myself? The rear gears are the only thing I could see that I probably should have let a shop obtain, but I figured a shop wouldn’t do the work of researching and getting all of the parts. Hoping to see if it’s just me. One labor quote I did get was 2,500 plus and it was apparent that they didn’t want to do it.

Here is my parts list if it would be helpful to anyone in the future. This is speckled in a lot of different threads, but needed to get it all in one place for myself.

Note: The holes on the rear LSD are not big enough to support the bolts needed to secure the ring gear. The shop I finally found to do the install is not able to drill through the LSD and are requiring it go to a machine shop. Has anyone encountered this and how did you resolve?

My rear lsd came with two sets of bolt holes, metric and not. I used the powertrax clutch lsd on the rear. Actually come to think of it, that was actually my pinion ring that had two sets of holes

Thanks Cheddar, I have the Eaton 912A553 - Detroit TrueTrac. Will have to look back through everything and see what I’ve missed. No turning back now, just hoping it isn’t an insane amount to drill the LSD. I vaguely remember an old Tommud post that might speak to this I will try to find.
