Hello all. I just recently had my truck in for some tire changes. And the mechanic said I need some new rear shocks. I called Napa for a quote but he asked what was on right now. So I go check the vehicle and the shocks all rusted out. We are the 3rd owner of this 03 Liberty. All I know it has a 2.5” lift on it. And I do want to buy new shocks. Any advice for me folks? Rear shocks for 2.5” lift 03 Jeep Liberty 3.7L V6

First need to know what lift kit you have on it
If you have a full spring lift from OME then 24-185660 Bilstein
BUT
if you have a cheap spacer lift those maybe too long since spacer lifts and worn out springs do not give you much lift
And you need good shocks, not cheap ones

I don’t know much. The previous owners are busy with a loss right now. But maybe I can show a picture or two?

Doesn't appear that there is anything wrong with the shocks , not leaking
Rusted some yes, but install a new set and they will look the same in 10,000 miles or more than likely less
It appears that they are OME springs and Rancho RSX shocks
That was the setup many of us used years ago ( the Rancho RSX line was discontinued in 2008-09 or so )
Now next thing, with Jeep sitting on level ground, measure middle of the wheel/hub , left front , to bottom of the flare
That will allow us to know how much the suspension has sagged over the years

Okay so I would have to get an updated aftermarket that would fit my rear end? Got any suggestions on where I should get some?

And actually if it were mine and needed new shocks or thought I did
I'd replace springs and shocks since you can tell the fronts are getting stacked

Okay measurements from centre of hub to flare right? Or measurements of the shock. If it’s the shock I’ll have to bring it back to the shop to do that. I don’t have tools and lifts to do so. I just got my ball joints and control arms all around. Maybe I can get the shop to measure them for me.

Old Man Emu, Black Max. Both have longer shocks for lifts

I’ll be measuring later on today. Warm her up this afternoon. Cold morning -50. But she starts no problem. Resilient beast lol. I’m waiting on my tail pipe in the mail. Previous owner didn’t attend to it. Then get it in for control arms all around changed. Alignments. Ask him to measure my shock for me compressed, etc. so I can order all around shocks. But like you said Tom I’ll measure this afternoon. See how much from sagged over the years.
