Hi there...the Jeep has 193k..trans shifts fine and seems normal..we bought it a few years ago and never messed with the trans...what do you think about the color/condition of this fluid?..I used a white zip tie to check it..thanks

Fluid appears possibly a bit thin, not as red as expected. jeep uses Atf+4.
Used a white zip tie to check it? Where's the dipstick? What year is your jeep?
It's easier to see the color of fluid when wiped onto a white paper towel.

It's an 07 no dipstick...good idea about the paper towel..I'll up date it tommorow.. I'm thinking about sucking out what I can through the dipstick tube and adding new fluid..I really don't want to drop the pan and such

It is not that bad of a job but it is messy. I was never a big fan of pumping out fluid. It really needs to drip out to fully drain everything from the transmission internal components. Might want to invest in some foil until you can get a dipstick.

A friend of mine at the ****** shop said you can use your oil dipstick to check the ****** fluid. Clean it off and then check ****** fluid. The level should be 1 1/2" above the full mark on stick.

Yup no dipstick on the 07's. Good ole Jeep, they want to force dealer servicing.
IDK the current status/availability of installing a tube/ new dipstick.
The main reason for dropping the pan is to also change the inside filter as well.

Far from an expert, but it doesn't look 193K old so it has been changed sometime. Can't smell it, but I have seen much worse.
If it is smelling burnt I would change it, do the filter as well.
I installed a PML 42RLE machined aluminum pan, with drain plug.
My fluid gets drained every 30K miles & at 60k is when I do the filter inside.
If you ever get a trans temp light, change it asap.

Book says something about removing one of the central pan screws in the back which drains most of the fluid. Then loosen all along the back and you have more control of where it all goes. Better than the everywhere-all-at-once method. Black silicon gasket maker is the gasket. You can buy a gasket too if you want.
