Last spring the 05 which is pretty much stock height ( keeping it that way to haul older folks around ) LOL
Anyways needed new tires, So after looking around, reading, etc I installed a set of 245-65-17s Road venture AT51s on it
Nice quiet tire, no sound from them on the road at all really.
Did good in mud, runnig around, never had a chance to try them out in any snow until today.
It was sitting in the lower garage, so almost didn't take it, but got it out
With 4 plus inches of snow last night, was a small test.
Of course my long driveway, the township ( dirt ) road not the chip and seal county roads had been plowed any .
So off I went, and they did great , Everything I read said they did, charts showed them at 9 or 10 for snow but they did really well
Almost thinking of going with them on the 03 now since they have 265-70-16s

I have them on my 06. There a great all around tire that wears evenly. I've had good luck with mine so far and I would recommend them to someone looking for a all around good tire. There not real costly either. I will probably continue to run these until I find better in the same price range. Btw here I Canada we got 18" of fresh snow last night and I powered through it this morning without no problems.

Good endorsements. I need to replace my Firestone Destination ATs on my Ranger and the Kumho popped up. Not a great fan of the Firestones. They looked good but seemed a bit wonky in my light pickup especially in their current state. Got over 50k on them so I guess they passed their treadlife expectations. Figured I'd try something else and have had other versions of Kumhos on other vehicles. I only need the 235/75/15s so pretty reasonable too!

I agree 100%. I was going to get Firestones but I went with the Kumho's instead and I'm glad I did. If you go through any amount of mud/snow you won't be disappointed with the Kumho Road Ventures

When I first bought the 04 new I put on 245-70-16 Destination ATs , thought they would be good
sold them off about 3 months later, could not wait to get rid of them
liked the looks, tread pattern etc but man just had to put it 4 WD to go anywhere ,
Not downing what you bought but just did not have a great experience with them

That's the only set of them I ever had but thought it was just my light ass Ranger causing the lack of traction. I had other Firestones that were pretty good. I managed to get 50k out of them but would NOT get another set. Like I said, they looked good but not good on traction. I've had good luck with BFGs and Cooper over the years, had some Generals, Hankooks and Michelins that were just OK, but think I'll try the Kumho this time.

I really liked some Mastercraft (Coopers) but can't find them around me anywhere...

Well, Michelin Defender LTX MS are probably the best tire I ever owned but they cost quite a bit more and I find they wear out a little faster.

Agreed on the wear out rate for the Michelins. Had two sets in the past and although great tires in a variety of "stuff" the last set were gone too fast for the price. One set on my 02 KJ lasted well past their rated treadlife but my Ranger subsequently ate a set way too quickly. I'm not in a financial position to replace tires that often and have a habit of launching the Ranger too often.

I found with the Michelin's you had to rotate them a lot of they would wear out too fast.

I had the Destination A/T’s on the ‘01 Ram 1500 I had. No complaints with them. Was able to plow in 2wd without any weight in the bed. Maybe because it was heavier than the Ranger??

I'm pretty sure that was it. They were a bit better once I started throwing some weight in the bed but still got interesting on wet roads. I had them in mud and snow and they were decent but wet pave was a challenge.
