Hi All

As of 5 days ago, i bought my first Jeep :), 2004 KJ (Cherokee in Aus) 3.7 Limited 180kms, had plenty of 4wds in the past but all free-wheeling hubs. Heard from a couple of mates that these are underated little buses and with the right mods can pretty much go anywhere.
I hope to enjoy the 'its a Jeep Thing' so i'll probably have loads of questions & hopefully some advice along the way.

Cheers

I like your thinking, i'll get around to changing the headlights to have Philips Extremes or something one day, but at the moment I probably dont need to change the foggies, where we live its sunlight 5.30-8.30p for 4-5months of the year & not much fog or snow.
Thats a neat rig setup you've got there, i like the front bar unit on it.
I'm hoping to get a lift kit done, either 32 or 33'' tyres, do some cam work & advance timing, rooftop tent, side awnings & reserve tank added.

Sorry never do 33s
31s or so and 4.10 gearing does great
For 32s you need 4 inches of lift which really isn't feasable with the lifts available today

Gday Tom,
thanks for the advice on the tyres, much appreciated.
I went to my local ARB store yesterday & you've confirmed his advice, he was recommending Old Man Emu 2.5" lift with 31s.
He mentioned that i can stay with my 3.73 gearing, but advised that I should go with adjustable coilovers and probably look into clevis spacers as I've yet to decide on what front bar/winch setup.
Also will i need to cutdown the front cv axles for 2.5" lift.

You do not need cut down CVs at 2.5 inches
I ran 4.5 inches over 100,000 miles and yes should of had them at that height but never did
One of my KJs is at 2.5 inches, 265-70-16s and 4.10 gearing, does great
You do not need clevis spacers at 2.5 inches if using 927/948 springs
I've done over 60 Liberty lifts and yes even though you were at ARB, they gave you some wrong information
