I bought a 2006 Liberty for my son and finally got off the old wheels. It has aluminum wheels (stock I assume) p235 70s16. Previous owner or someone working on it over tightened the lugs and I ended up having to drill out 6 of them. Then replacing those 6 lug studs. The wheels have some curb rash and damage from pounding on sockets before finally having to drill them out. I’m thinking about throwing a set of used tires on there letting him learn to drive then upgrade wheels tires and the whole thing. We are in suburban Chicagoland. Does anyone have any suggestions on tires and wheels? This would be for a kid so we are not looking to go off road crazy but we do live in an area with some decent winters.

Stock wheels, check Craigslist, people are parting them out all of the time
due to age of the KJ I'm sure it has sagged so stick with stock size and stock wheels

If you want to see how bad the suspension is, level ground, left front, measure middle of the wheel to bottom of flare, new stock height was 19 inches on yours

Thank you for the great comparison. Back is 19 exactly front is only 18 1/4 so I’ve lost 3/4 of an inch. The front tires also had uneven wear on both front inside tires. The wheels didn’t seem to have any play left to right or up and down so my assumption is previous owner replaced ball joints and didn’t have it aligned.

Are the wheel adapters from 5 x 4.5 to 5x5 bad? I see quite a bit of discussion saying stay away from garbage spacers, but I’m not sure if that includes these or the cheaters way of adding lift?

Using spacers will set the wheels out further and cause rubbing issues for sure, plus IMO would never run spacers
