I'm looking for a way to mount a 3' x 5' flag on the back of my kj. Preferably not a hitch mount, looking for some kind of spare tire mount or something similar

one of the reasons the hitch mount is so popular, is because that's a lot of force that flag can exert on a lot of other mounting methods. that being said, if you're even remotely crafty, some PVC pipe could be lashed to the spare tire mount, if you tried.

I would much rather have a hitch mount , even a small 3x5 at highways speeds creates a lot of pull
But make as strong as possible , have a pole dancer check it out first !
I've ran a 3x5 and 5x7 on the rear of the Harley for parades etc , and tried at hiway speeds, not fun

Works great for tailgater's. Punch the accelerator and spear the sucker when the flag flies off.

(I was actually thinking a setscrew might be a good addition...) ;)

I think he said he planned to only fly a flag in the parking lot at a car show.

My late Uncle had a really nice 69 Mustang, won many awards , he was at a show and they parked this Dodge 4x4 Pickup close by with 4 flags flying, you know the type, two rebel flags, some other one with a pole dancer on it etc.
My Uncle didn't like the guy from the start, sneaking whiskey to drink when show was sponsored by the Sheriffs Auxiliary
Anyways wind picks up, flags go flying , two of them bouncing off the roof and truck lid of the Mustang .
Now my Uncle was a Chief of Police for over 20 years, but he almost got locked up that day !
Hopefully if someone is build one for a car show, they have it built very well
