Quick question.

Wife has a '12 Murano that we just had tires put on (265/60/18 Nokian Rotivva a/t's). She likes them, which is want matters, but at highway speeds they shake the whole car.

3 oz. of balance beads were put in each tire.

Now, here's the question...Can different brands of beads be mixed in the tires?

I don't know what brand beads were put in, but to try and help the shake I was going to put 3 oz. more in each tire (to total 6 oz. per tire). I was going to use Counteract beads which I have in my Harley and have no issues with.

Thoughts?

In SUV tires most all recommend just 3 ounces is all
0ne ton and up trucks 5 ounces

If you are having shakes with 3 in, I'd go back to the shop , maybe a bad tire, or not seated correctly

That's one thing I was thinking. The tires appear to be seated though. So was thinking of trying more beads. If that doesn't solve it then removing the beads and go for traditional balance and see if a tire is out of round.

Or maybe just remove the beads and just go for the traditional balance, which should tell off the bat if one's bad.

I'm currently experimenting with beads on the 35's on my wrangler. I put the recommended 8oz but ended up needing 14oz in each to tame them. I would not mix bead types but not sure if there is a legit reason not to.

If I was running beads and needed 14 ounces in each I would be taking the tires back to someone, that is a lot
I ran beads on the Peterbilt years ago and never liked them really

In the end the beads just didn't work for me, not for those tires, they were just too unevenly worn and old. I put new tires on it yesterday and they balanced fine with weights. Wasn't happy about spending a grand on new tires for a wrangler that's about to get a for sale sign :(

every time i added beads i was able to go 10-15 mph faster without shaking, but i would have had 20 or so ounces in there in the end. Plus driving with them seemed seemed quirky, almost like it required a bumpy road in order to get the beads to settle where they needed to be.

I used airsoft bbs in my 89 XJ's 31's, and they seemed to work well enough. The vehicle itself was shaky, and the tires were brand new, so I couldn't tell you 100% they worked.

I never had luck with beads in my explorer. And i doubt your murano has big enough tires to truly warrant beads. Was there a reason why they went that route versus traditional balancing?

We have 265/60/18 Nokian Rotivva a/t's on it. Went with the beads because I have them in my Harley and have had no issues. They run smooth at any speed, so decided to try them on the Murano. We ended up just having them removed and normally balanced. No issues now.
