Hello Jeepers,

I have a KJ 2003 Sport 3.7L V6, when i go up a slope on 3rd transmission the car power dies, so it keep switching between 3rd and 2nd transmission even if i press the pedal more, i replaced my fuel filter and checked my fuel pump they are in good state, my oil and oil filter are new...

Another thing i feel that the jeep is heating too much, when i open the door when i turn off the engine i feel the heat under the door, so is it normal ?

Thank you!

The stock gearing & transmission on the KJ aint the brightest on the block, neither is the roaming in bewtween gears up a hill..it is normal. Just turn the overdrive off and giver er some gas!
Jeeps cat converters do get hot & include the under the hood temps which are great for cooking hotdogs! :icon_lol:
I see 220F on hot days and temps should drop if the AC is on /the rads fans are working at fast speeds.

i don't use overdrive at all, i mean a big engine like the KJ got should not die on 3rd transmission when going up a hill, when the KJ reach 3rd transmission i feel like its not taking gas anymore, it starts dying till it switch's back to the 2nd transmission.
about the heat, yeah lol srsly you can cook hotdogs... i was scared at first but if its normal then LET IT GO LET I GO :p

A partially restricted exhaust system will cause your exact problem. At my shop we check this by drilling a small hole in front of catalytic converters and checking back pressure with a low pressure gauge. Holes are then welded up.

Hey Bob,

I had my environment depot (i don't know what you call it,it's job cleans the air before going out of the exhaust) filled with dirt, it got replaced (it looks like oval), i felt the car got better after replacing it, but it's still not enough

where are the front of catalytic converters located in a liberty, if you could give me a small tutorial how this can be done.

Note: there is no check engine light
Thank you.

Not being USA version I don't know if yours is the same as US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) version, but the catalytic converter is the same as what you're calling "environment depot". There are three (3) of them, one small one in each arm of the "Y" pipe, then a single larger one after the "Y". Like I said, yours may be totally different.

"Catalytic Cleaner",,, NEVER heard of such a thing! What brand? Who makes it? Pour in fuel? Answers would be more than thanks enough.

Best,

No it's not poor in fuel, it's put in the tube that the engine takes air from, i can't find the product on the Internet, it's a red bottle i didn't put it my friend putted it for me, so all what i saw was "catalytic cleaner"
